If Yash Chopra was the King of Romance, then Shah Rukh Khan is surely his Prince! SRK has romanced his heroines like no other hero can- right from Juhi Chawla, Kajol and Madhuri Dixit in his earlier days to Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif in his present days. The way he spreads his arms and bends on his knee to woo the leading lady makes women go weak in the knees! His style, personality and charm are all the objects of desire of most men.

And so, on the grand occasion of his birthday, we bring to you some of his most famous romantic numbers of all times:

Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam – Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

Romance was redefined when Simran ran into the arms of Raj amidst the bright yellow mustard fields in the most romantic films of all times. Youngsters found their new idols when SRK’s Raj expressed his love to his heroine Kajol’s Simran in the breath-taking valleys of Switzerland. If the film is a blockbuster till date, the Kumar Sanu-Lata Mangeshkar sung song is also a chartbuster and finds its way into most music players even now.

Jaadu Teri Nazar – Darr

Among the first hit songs of SRK which strengthened his foothold in the industry was this famous track from the film Darr, starring Juhi Chawla, Sunny Deol and himself. He was the obsessed anonymous lover of ‘K-K-Kiran’ in this song, and soon people took to humming this Udit Narayan track day in and day out.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Yet another SRK-Kajol track which stormed its way into the chartbusters for the year, and even continues to do so till now. The title track of Karan Johar’s debut film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai had Rahul, Tina and Anjali expressing their love to one another through the beautiful lyrics penned by Sameer. Sung by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, this song became the romantic anthem of college-goers and other adults alike.

Suraj Hua Maddham – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…

Okay I am not being partial to SRK-Kajol, but even you would agree that there is something about them which changes the meaning of romance in the film. Again Rahul and Anjali pair up in this super-passionate track from Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik ignited love in the hearts and so did that see-through white shirt of SRK.

Humko Humise Chura Lo – Mohabbatein

Shah Rukh’s Raj Aryan Malhotra elegantly romances his dead girlfriend Aishwarya Rai’s Megha Shankar in this superhit track from the film Mohabbatein. Lata Mangeshkar and Udit Narayan gave the nation a new love song, not to forget the orange maple leaves and the melodious tune of the violin played by Raj, which became the symbol of eternal love.

Dil to Pagal Hai

A notable superhit film of the Bolly Baadshah’s career, each song of this film is a chartbuster even today. But we choose to go with the title track as the top hit romantic number of SRK. Not just the three leads of the film, but the entire country hums the song sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Udit Narayan even in present times.

Sajda – My Name is Khan

An autistic young man getting married to the woman he loves was so poignantly depicted in this mind-blowing romantic number from My Name Is Khan. Sung by Richa Sharma, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shankar Mahadevan, this song with a Sufi feel to it tells a deep story about Rizwan Khan, Mandira and her son Sameer. It stormed through playlists and became one of the most requested songs on many radio stations and TV channels.

Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai – Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Sometimes as Suri and sometimes as Raj, this soulful romantic track from Aditya Chopra’s 2008 film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring SRK and debutant Anushka Sharma became a hot favorite, especially among lovey-dovey couples. Sung by Roop Kumar Rathod, this track soon found itself in the top rung of all-time romantic hits.

Mitwa – Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna

Another slice of romance from Karan Johar’s mature take on extramarital relationships Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, this song was filmed on our b’day boy Shah Rukh Khan and his leading lady Rani Mukerji. The ‘Sufi rock ballad’ was sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali and composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and rules the charts for several days.

Main Yahan Hoon Yahan – Veer Zaara

We could not miss this song as it was the most romantic number from the King of Romance Yash Chopra’s last released direction- Veer Zaara. Both Preity Zinta and SRK oozed loads of sizzling chemistry in the Udit Narayan-sung song, which turned out to be an anthem for all lovers alike.

Needless to say, I had a really tough time picking out the 10 best romantic numbers of SRK, because we all are spoilt for choice when it comes to something as huge as this! Given a chance, I could go on and on but for the time being, I would like you guys to share your favorite SRK Romantic tracks with us!
