Actress Anushka Sharma has suffered the heat of scathing criticism after her appearance on Karan Johar’s popular talk show. Her ‘distorted’ lips haven’t left the statuses of Facebook-ians and Twitterati ever since the show was aired this Sunday where Anushka donned the couch with her Bombay Velvet director Anurag Kashyap.

Many celebrities has come out in defense of the actress especially the Highway damsel Alia Bhatt who took to Twitter and wrote, “Way to go Anushka Sharma. People are dealing with a strong girl here so say what you want… nothing is bringing her down.”

In an interview with Koimoi, a visibly miffed Alia said, “Social Media is slowly emerging as a place where people think it is cool to talk any way they want. Being a girl, you are more prone to criticism about the way you look. But there are certain boundaries of social etiquette and manners which should not be defied. Making such personal remarks, so brutally is not acceptable.”

She continued, “I would never cross the boundaries of social etiquette and pass such unwanted rude remarks. Even if I despise someone, I will not publicly create a mockery of her.”

Alia maintained her stand on the Anushka issue, “I think the issue was blown out of proportion on social media. She is a fantastic actor. Her work surely speaks louder than what is being spoken about her. I think she was very brave in the way she constructed her statement and she must not get perturbed by such trivial things. I would any-day give a big thumbs up to someone like her.”

Alia has never been victimized for how she looks except for the time she had put on a little weight and the actress claims to have taken it positively and worked hard at shedding the flab.

In an industry infested with cat-fights, Alia has acted beyond her years in fathoming the media criticism surrounding issues like these. Not only is the actress choosing bold roles for herself but also carving more opinionated ideas much to her benefit.
