The trailer of Singham Returns is pompous and bombastic! And what better would you expect from Rohit Shetty, especially when he is walking out straight from the success of Chennai Express. That film surely worked as a massive confidence booster for everyone who was associated with it. Singham Returns’ trailer reflects Rohit Shetty at his best. The necessary ingredients of a Rohit Shetty film are all present in abundance. The gravity defying flying cars are back to enthrall. We even see oodles of flying Ajay as well, probably paving way to replace Krrish as the official superhero of India.
Undeniably, the trailer is a crisp, well cut, goosebumps incurring show. The shots of the Gateway of India and Bandra-Worli Sea Link are fantastically delivered! The trailer alone has a bunch of nifty action sequences sewed together. It does retain the smarts of the prequel as Ajay smears himself in the perpetually angry cop avatar with perfection. Amole Gupte replaces Prakash Raj as the lead antagonist and I can merely hope that Ajay shares an equally palpable ruthless chemistry with Gupte, as he did with Raj. That will just add to the dazzling factor of the film. With clap traps strewn smartly into the narrative, the trailer quite succeeds in achieving what it seeks – the attention of the audiences. For a change, I am hoping the lead lady has something to do in the film besides acting pretty. Kareena Kapoor is too good an actress to be wasted. Plus, her chemistry with Devgn is always something to look out for in a film!
Singham Returns is at no point subtle and roars unabashedly multiple times (if you want to the literal number, it is 12 to be precise). With around 10 blasts recorded in the trailer itself, Rohit and Ajay are simply conveying that Singham Returns won’t be an ordinary feat ; it has the mettle of an entertaining masala film. With the swagger exhibited, expect to have a blast!
