Bubbly, effervescent and vivaciously spunky, Parineeti Chopra infuses life into anything mundane and boring. From playing the naïve Dimple Chaddha to the feisty Zoya and the very practical Gayatri, this wonder woman of sorts has definitely made sure that she makes a terrific mark in the industry. And now that she’s going Mental with this Cucking Frazy film of sorts, Parineeti is all smiles.
“In reality I am not at all mental, okay! But yes in this film I am playing a mad, mad character. And it’s the different wavelengths of emotions that the characters go through throughout the film is what makes the film even better. Sid is a total ‘senti’ in the film and he is very emotional. Even in real life, Sid is a total senti aadmi (Laughs out loud). But I am not at all mad. I am very well spoken and sophisticated! (Sidharth bursts out in laughter as Pari asks him to stop).”
He’s this silent brooding new age Angry young man whereas Parineeti is the total patakha, a livewire of sorts and when they two met, it must have been very awkward, so to say! But Parineeti definitely rubbishes all reports saying, “It is such misconceptions that people have! Sidharth is a big prankster, he is a luchcha! And he being the silent guy is a total myth. He is not silent nor is he shy. Yes, first day there was a feeling that he might not just talk much but believe me, we connected right from the first time we met. We are a lot similar and we both are in the same age group almost. So it worked out well. People are loving my chemistry with him and that’s what matters. He is really intelligent and sensible. And even if he had been silent, I would have made him talk, don’t worry!”
While most acknowledge her elder sister Priyanka Chopra for opening the Bollywood gateway for her baby cousin Parineeti, Pari decided to put a point across once and for all. “No it has never been like that at all. She has always been supportive of me and yes, it was during Pyaar Impossible that she introduced me to the YRF team and I started working there as a marketing personnel. But it was Maneesh Sharma who offered me the role and saw the actor in me at a time even I could not see that actor in me. During the promotions of Band Baaja Baaraat, he always would come and tell me, ‘Dekhna, tu ekdin actress banegi’ and we used to laugh it off. So yes, getting me into YRF was what Priyanka helped me do but the decision to be an actress was totally mine. I know she will always be there for me whenever I need her and that is the best thing about our relation,” was the word from the Ishaaqzaadi!
Having one of the liveliest laughs among all the contemporary heroines we have today, Parineeti’s smile testifies the theme of the film to the tee. So when we asked if she ever went Hasee Toh Phasee in real life, she giggled it all over. “Not at all. I laugh like this all the time. I am a very positive person and I am always happy. But well, I don’t think anyone has phasao-ed me that way. No, never!”
