Perhaps another terrific clash of the Titans is on order for Bollywood. If news reports and trade buzz is anything to go by, the makers of both Bajirao Mastani and Shuddhi are keen on zeroing Christmas 2015 for their respective film. Clashes are becoming a norm in Bollywood and are mostly a way of gathering greater hype for the venture in question.
Recently the biggest clash at the movies was of Rajkumar Hirani’s P.K starring Aamir Khan hitting the screens with Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. With Kashyap speaking to the media about it, Hirani has insistently kept mum on the same. The most recent on the issues suggests that Fox Star is contemplating delaying the film and allowing P.K to cash in the moolah this Christmas.
What’s peculiarly amusing about Karan Johar’s Shuddhi and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani is that the films’ scripts aren’t tightly in place and the cast hasn’t been announced either. But the makers have already booked the release date for the film.
Probably the focus of every filmmaker these days is more on how to grab eyeballs and ensure the money flows in (holiday releases almost guarantee it) than figuring out a tight script and befitting stars. 2015 is still at a distance and there a while before the films go on floor, but surely both films are keen on locking the date for their magnum opus releases of sorts!
