The promo of Bajirao Mastani has been unveiled in the inner circles of Bollywoood and it can now be said with utmost certainty that Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be bringing his dream epical tale (with Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra in the lead) on 18th December. This makes it yet another major clash (other than Raees v/s Sultan) for Shah Rukh Khan which is turning into a reality, what with his Dilwale slated to arrive on the same date.
Though Shah Rukh has mentioned recently that he doesn’t think too much about these clashes, the fact remains that there in the outside world, it would be a matter of discussion for sure.
“When both Dilwale and Bajirao Mastani were vying for the Christmas release, it was widely believed that one of them would back off. Later, when both pulled up their plans by a week and decided to come on 18th instead, it was felt that this was just a means to establish dominance for now, and eventually here won’t be any clash. However, as things stand today, this is pretty much turning out to be reality. Neither of the two is contemplating any change of plans. You can as well brace up for the clash of the year in the week leading to Christmas,” informs a trade insider.
As is a known fact, there is a history of clashes between Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Their Om Shanti Om and Saawariya had come on the same date. Later, for the longest time, Chennai Express and Ram Leela were planned for the same date release. However, this never made sense as Deepika Padukone was the common element, and hence Ram Leela was moved ahead.
“But not anymore,” says a source attached to Bajirao Mastani, “Bhansali sir is sure that it is going to be 18th December for the film’s release. It is a great weekend to arrive.”
When contacted, Eros spokesperson confirmed that they are ‘100% arriving’ on the said date.
