Ayushmann Khurrana is quite an unusual sperm, proclaimed his debut film Vicky Donor and with his third film slated for release this Friday, the actor tells Koimoi how Bewakoofiyaan is his first ever commercial film and he is extremely excited for it. He said, “Rom-coms are usually made in a make-believe world and seem right out of la-la land but Habib Faisal makes this one a truly slice of film. There is this contemporary vibrance in it which is catchy.”
When asked about being cast opposite the seasoned actor Rishi Kapoor for the first time, Khurrana was quick to answer that the character played by Kapoor was written by Habib keeping him in mind for the role. “Habib and Rishi sir obviously had a special bond from Do Dooni Chaar. And Rishi sir is almost playing himself in the film. He is exactly like that in real life. The track between Rishi Sir and Sonam must be exactly the same as he shares with his daughter. It was beyond great working with him. He is a very senior actor and he cannot tolerate incompetence. You have to be doubly competent if you are working with him. He is nearly a one take artist and hence I had to be doubly prepared for him from my vanity van itself, when I had a scene with him. I think I have become a one-take artist because of him.”
Well, the perks of working with experienced actors always pays off it seems as Khurrana seemed more sure of his acting and his film. Bewakoofiyaan is directed by Nupur Asthana of the sitcom Hip Hip Hurray and film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge fame. The film releases on 14th March.
