It’s not uncommon to see some Bollywood leading ladies grin, simper & go the extra mile to work with the Khans (Kangana Ranaut being the only exception to this rule!). Yet more often than not, they need to wait their turn.
There is one low profile, quiet & relatively tiny actor who has achieved this feat rather effortlessly and on merit alone. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has worked with Aamir Khan, Salman Khan & Shah Rukh Khan in mainstream cinema; and delivered noteworthy performances.
Nawaz says, “My intention of working with Khans is to make my small films work. The Khans have a huge fan following, even just a 5% of them come to watch my small films, it will become a hit. And I think it is the honesty of my work that has earned me these opportunities today that I am getting to work with the three Khans, I really need them. The script of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Raees is completely different. It is the trust factor in the directors, with whom I work, is what works out well for me.”
Nawaz played Taimur, a melancholy part of a desperate petty criminal with élan in Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’ in 2012. His enviable prowess as an actor immediately got him noticed within Bollywood’s mainstream filmmakers.
In 2014, Nawaz played the villain to Salman Khan’s ‘Devil’; the blockbuster cemented his status as a clutter breaking performer.
And this year, he matches his wits opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’. SRK has called Nawaz an ‘accomplished actor’ & stated that ‘I would have to excel and perform like’ his diminutive co actor.
As for the humble yet supremely talented actor, his club of admirers include Ranbir Kapoor, Bipasha Basu & Varun Dhawan. With a starring role in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, a film that reunites him with his first director Kabeer Khan, we expect his flock to grow by leaps and bounds!
