The trailer of much-awaited Prem Ratan Dhan Payo released yesterday. The film has gathered enough hype because after over 20 years, Salman Khan is once again teaming up with director Sooraj Barjatya. Once upon a time, he had swept ladies off their feet with his winning act of ‘Prem’ – the good boy. Look a few years back and we remember seeing Salman play the chocolate boy in the Rajshri films.
Once again, he is set woo us the same way in his upcoming Diwali release. While the film’s title, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo sounds quite vintage, after looking at the trailer, I realized why it is perfect because all we see in it is ‘Prem’.
A noteworthy feature of the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo trailer is its sheer opulence. The sets look extraordinary and while the film revolves around a Royal family, the colorful representation of the Rajasthan palaces is completely mesmerizing in the trailer. Salman has a double role in the film and we see his second look towards the end of the trailer. Sonam Kapoor is the leading lady and well she is seen dancing in lavish ghagra’s and sarees and I am not quite sure how she will fit the bill as a Barjatya film heroine. They are expected to be shy and do the ‘sharmana’ which does not seem like something Sonam can pull off.
Glimpses of Neil Nitin Mukesh are seen in the trailer and well there is only one angered expression on his face which tells us that he is the antagonist. Like usual, the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo story revolves around family and its importance. After seeing Salman in his ‘Dabangg’ avatar,I am not sure if the audiences want him to play the shy-boy ‘Prem’.
