The second trailer of Madras Cafe is way more insightful than its prior one. With interesting facts getting revealed, there is a clear glimpse of the plot here. Set against the backdrop of the Lankan Civil War, there is a clear reference made to LTTE waged insurgency. In the beginning of the film’s trailer itself, there is a reference to an LTTE leader who wouldn’t surrender his arms, followed by the decision to partake a covert operation.

Vaguely, the trailer will then tread you through the details of your history books, as you’ll recall the compelling bits about the Indo-Lankan Peace Accord and how India got entrapped in the ethnic strife of another nation.

Evidently, the conflict portrayed in the film is between Indian peace keeping Forces and LTTE Tigers. The climax hilt is reached when Siddharth Basu announces in a sequence that the intercepts between Jaffna and Madras are cracked.

What follows in the trailer brings back to us memories of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination in Sriperumbudur with even similar scenes concluding the trailer itself.

Shoojit Sircar gets in this film a unique perspective of viewing the strife that has commonly being kept aside from Indian cinema. He indeed is the first Bollywood filmmaker to come up so strongly about the sensitive issue in mainstream cinema.

The rest of the elements from the main trailer is retained, all what is greater in this is its thrill and a view of how powerful the content. Given its Shoojit Sircar, you don’t expect a sloppy execution from it. Madras Cafe is pathbreaking in the story it has to offer, and I for one can’t wait to watch it!
