Every movie that releases is incomplete without those strong characters which in their best possible way support the characterization of leads. Be it a positive or a negative supporting role, it does adds an immense value to the story of a film. 2014, saw some exceptional supporting characters, and the nominations for Best Supporting Actress 2014 are as listed below:

Lisa Haydon – Queen

Queen took over the box office and the audiences with its appealing story. The characters in the movie were also appreciated and one of them being Lisa Haydon. She played, Vijayalaxmi, a single independent mother in Paris to whom, Queen (Kangana Ranaut) found solace in the unknown city. Lisa’s raw and fun loving character was highly acclaimed and she pulled it off exceptionally well, and so makes it to our list of nominations for Best Supporting Actress of 2014.

Amrita Singh – 2 States

Amrita Singh made a comeback and this was one of the best comebacks by veterans. She is one of the most sought after actress and in 2 States she delivered a typical Punjabi mom’s character with complete ease and comfort. Her rapport with Arjun Kapoor, her attitude and her accent was in sync with her character and that won her a lot of attention and appreciation for her work.

Tabu – Haider

The actress played the character of Ghazala and justified it with her outstanding performance in Haider, turning out to be one of the best performances of her career. Her character was well portrayed in the movie and she brought life to the character, making it look realistic on screen. Must say, except Tabu no other actress was perfect for this role.

Huma Qureshi – Dedh Ishqiya

Huma Qureshi played the role of Munniya, in Dedh Ishqiya, a confidante and ally to Madhuri Dixit in the film. Well she very well managed to garner a lot of appreciation with her acting amidst great actors like Madhuri Dixit and Naseeruddin Shah. Her role won critical acclaim.

​Aamna Sharif – Ek Villain

Making her comeback after a hiatus proved fruitful for her. Paired opposite Riteish Deshmukh in 2014’s successful film Ek Villain, Aamna’s character of Sulochana (wife of Riteish), was very convincing and she received rave reviews for the same. Though, she had a small role, it was an important one which she carried off really well.
