The first trailer of Kick almost matches up to the standards Salman Khan set post Ek Tha Tiger. The slick trailer doesn’t seem like yet another harebrained offering but quite oozes the oomph factor. Salman, who is often detached from his characters, playing them with a known indifference seems to be genuinely enjoying himself in the film, at least in the trailer. And mostly there is the smoldering Randeep Hooda and the superbly talented Nawazuddin Siddiqui who give us the hope that the film won’t swim in the waters of mediocrity.
Salman as Devil, does work. For a change he isn’t sleepwalking through his role but seems to having a blast in a character that has been deliberately kept hazy in the first trailer of the film. Though I saw glimpses of a double role, I am hoping the film won’t take up such clichéd ways.
At places, the trailer looks like a Dhoom offering. But this is actually a compliment that on any level the trailer matches that of the country’s most popular and successful franchise’s. The chases and the flying cars just give an adrenaline rush. That one particular scene where Salman crosses the railway line and the actor crosses it in his Superhuman way was simply fun.
Salman maintains his invincible hulk self but the romance doesn’t look very engaging. Movies for Salman should be customized: without a heroine, pure action and near zero scope to act. His fans couldn’t be happier. However, Kick seems to have a story to tell. With the actor slipping out of two distinct looks and some awe striking stunts (like the one where jumps of a tall building) Finally there is a joyride in hold for the audiences. And I for one do think that the trailer which fills you with intrigue is simply kick ass.
