While Kashmir is in news for more lamentable reasons now, it is fortunate that Bollywood has something better to report about the region. Amongst the new venues opening up for shooting, Kashmir was an important one. Ofcourse after the mishap on the sets of Haider, it seemed perturbing to many but with Blockbusters like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Highway and now even Haider being shot in the backdrop of those picturesque locales. Definitely the region that has banned Bollywood is now opening up to Hindi cinema and entertainment more open heartedly.
To facilitate the same a five day film festival has been organized in the valley by the filmmakers from the region. Since it has been kept devoid of cinema for a while now, the filmmakers are trying to get back the culture that has remained dormant for almost 25 years.
The Jammu and Kashmir International Film Festival intends on inviting world cinema for film lovers in the state as well as media from all the world to cover the same. The festival will kickstart on 12th October and will close of the 17th of the month. Obviously high security will be maintained foe this but this is a moment of jubilation for the people of the valley and will mark the return of cinema for them.
