Aamir Khan’s P.K has recently been in the news amidst a lot of controversies due to its release date, especially after Anurag Kashyap showed his displeasure very visibly at the film clashing with his massive venture Bombay Velvet. The former was earlier expected to release in May but since Aamir Khan had locked the year for his television show Satyamev Jayate Season 2, the film’s release was postponed to the Christmas week.
Since Dhoom 3‘s success was insurmountable, the media reported that Aamir is holding close to the date because he is superstitious about it. But Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani officially announced that P.K will release on 19th December this year and will be produced in collaboration with Disney.
Aamir in an interview to Koimoi spoke about it earlier, saying, “P.K‘s delay has nothing to do with my fondness for the date. The film’s editing needs finishing and hence the release date has been pushed. Raju will be the right person to talk to about this.”
Also there was a buzz that Fox Star will delay Bombay Velvet, but the film will probably now release on the scheduled Christmas week itself. As Aamir famously said on this issue, “If two films are releasing on the same day, it shouldn’t matter. They both will do well if they are both good films.”
