When Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was announced, the most striking part was the casting for the film. Actors Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan struck a perfect on screen camaraderie in their first film itself and now two years later they are back with a rustic looking, realistic romantic comedy.
However, the level of insecurities amongst contemporaries in the industry is always seen to be high. In an interview with Koimoi when we asked Alia whether she ever fears Varun will eat into a scene of hers, she said, “Both me and Varun would never do that to each other. We are not trying to get a good performance. Because the minute you are trying to be good for yourself, it will affect the scene. Even if I have no dialogues in the scene and am supposed to stay quiet, I won’t do any overt expression so that people look at me in the scene. No one is supposed to look at me in the scene Boss. They are supposed to look at the other person who is giving the dialogue. Varun will never try to take a scene away from me.”
Adding to the same, Alia said Varun and she can never be insecure about each other. She said, “Probably when he is doing comedy, the genre is such that he will have to be little loud. A Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania is not that kind of a film. But a Main Tera Hero generally has that pitch and tone. It can never work like that because you have to work along with the people. Insecurity is something I hope and wish never comes between two of us because it affects the film eventually.”
Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in lead roles and is a typical masaledaar romantic comedy set in the heartlands of the country.
