Bollywood’s Older Actor – Younger Actress Castings & Their Massive Age Gaps!

As officially announced by Dharma Productions yesterday, Alia Bhatt has been roped in opposite Shah Rukh Khan for Gauri Shinde’s upcoming film. Well, it comes as no surprise that once again we will be seeing a younger actress wooing an older hero on screen. Bollywood has done it time and again and we wonder will it ever change. Hollywood has gone ahead to make a film like Gravity where both the 50 -something stars, George Clooney and Sandra Bullock put up a classic act and mind you the hero is not the alpha male but it is the actress who takes the center stage.

Exactly the opposite, in B-town, every established actor is paired with the youngest of the stars, making the hero truly stand out while the actress remains an eye candy. Of course, we hope like Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express where Deepika Padukone shined even more than King Khan himself, the Gauri Shinde film too will have a substantial role for Alia.

This is definitely a casting coup of sorts. Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan are all set to come together in a film now. Alia is currently the blue-eyed girl of Bollywood and Karan Johar’s closest protegee. The 22 year-old will now be seen romancing soon-to-be 50 year old Shah Rukh Khan. It will be interesting to see how this chemistry shapes up on-screen. Well, it’s a biggie for Alia and we wonder what the fans have to say about this.

Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan : Age Gap 45 years

This will remain to be a historic casting of all time. He was 64. She was 19 and what happens when they are attracted by each other! Well, that was the storyline of Nishabd. As bold as its script, the casting of Amitabh Bachchan and Jiah Khan was unimaginable for anyone. Of course, thanks to its controversial subject, the film did not work.

Ajay Devgn and Sayesha Saigal : Age Gap 28 years

Ajay Devgn is currently working on his directorial venture Shivaay. The actor shocked everyone when he announced that the leading lady for his film will be 18 year-old Sayesh Saigal. She is the grand niece of actors Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. While Ajay is currently, 46, the age gap between his debutante herione and him is 28 years, same like SRK and Alia.

Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor : Age Gap 20 years

Salman Khan will be turning 50 this year and this eligible bachelor of Bollywood is still happy romancing younger heroines on-screen. In his upcoming film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman has been paired opposite Sonam Kapoor who is 20 years younger to him.
