Starting off as a struggler in his formative years, the Man of the Moment, the Undisputed Shahenshah of Bolly Ville, Amitabh Bachchan is a household name today. While millions of ardent fans and followers worship him every moment, Amitabh Bachchan somehow manages to maintain a non-starry no tantrum appearance with eased comfort. He might be the Angry Young Man of Bollywood but in reality, he is one of the most humble artist of his times and forward. As he celebrates another birthday today, we decoded Amitji’s funda to success and his road to super stardom.
People bogged him down, films flopped in the beginning, he was almost ruled out but somehow he is the biggest actor we have today. Speaking on his accomplished Bollywood journey, the actor is normally himself and all smiles. “Every actor, when he starts off in his career, has a motive. His main motive would be to get work first and give his hundred percent to the film. And once you get a job, you see to it whether the film is successful, whether the audience will like you or not. And I think when you are provided with lifetime opportunities, you just need to follow the right path. Also, the fact is that at every stage, we all get to discover new abilities in ourselves. It requires a huge amount of self-confidence for any actor to take up an issue based film. And to do that, purely on the strength of his belief to follow his compassion is commendable,” was the words of wisdom from our most loved actor.
Even today, in his 70 something, Amitabh Bachchan is the only oldie within the newbie. Like a bottle of old wine, as Amitji gets finer with each passing day, the variety of offers that he gets to play with films like Paa, Black or even a Nishabd at this age, the respect for him is truly an unachievable feat. “I don’t think I could portray or take up such roles during my early days. But fortunately, due to my age, now I get to play a diverse variety of roles. Though it’s due to the fact that I won’t get to play the role of a protagonist in a film, I still enjoy my work even more, simply because of the different shades that I get to play today. And I am very happy that even at this age, I am able to get almost different kinds of roles which makes my work even more exciting. Even after these 42-43 years that I have spent in the industry, people still consider me for a film. And that helps me get going”, he teases with his million dollar smile yet again.
And when it comes to providing tips to the generation following him and the Gen Y today, the actor came up with his encouraging thoughts. “There are no hard and fast rules for success. Look at Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir, Hrithik, Saif and even Ranbir and the others. They have all stood up and battled against everything and come victorious. Each of them is different but equally precious. But yes, as I have always said to my children, ‘Work hard and Play hard’”, he signs off and we are still awed by his disarming candour.
Even as he turns 71 today, Age is just another number in this actor’s life. And more than the actor, Amitji, the human being deserves a lot more than a standing ovation. Salute to the Biggest Star in the history of Indian cinema and we say this with huge respect, love, affection and immense satisfaction. Thank you for making us proud, sir. Happy Birthday.
