Bhoothnath Returns has fared excessively well at the box office in Uttar Pradesh. The film that is a sequel of Bhoothnath is primarily based on infusing the feeling of the necessity to vote. The U.P government has decided to make the film tax free.
Bhoothnath Returns, that is currently running in over 200 screens, has been deliberately made tax free to promote voting in the state. The election fever is on a high in India and with the fallout of people arriving at the voting booth reducing in many states, a film like Bhoothnath Returns might help in propagating awareness as to how voting will help in bettering the situation.
U.P Government has earlier made Jai Ho and Dedh Ishqiya tax free in Uttar Pradesh. Though the move ran into controversy after the stars of both films Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit performed in Saifai Mahaotsav.
Bhoothnath Returns however is a largely clean film that released on 11th April and starred Amitabh Bachchan reprising the role of Bhoothnath along with child artiste Parth Bhalerao in lead roles.
