While fleeting reports of Ajay Devgn’s Singham 2 and Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar clashing at the box office were doing the rounds, new reports have turned tables all together. Yes, according to reports, it will be a huge clash when two heavyweight films will be vying for audience attention this May 2014. Rather than Gabbar and Singham 2, it will just be a clash of the titans, when Ajay’s Action Jackson releases alongside Akki’s Thuppaki remake.
Akshay who has been recuperating from the massive disasters that he has lately been a part of, be it Once Upon Ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! or the sinking Boss, has finally taken a huge stance, one that was potentially more of a requirement for the actor. With multiple releases lined up every year, Akshay’s films have very little time gap in between for him to be able to shoot and promote them with perfection. Henceforth, our Khiladi Kumar has decided to keep a minimum time gap between any of his films, so as to give full time to each film at a time! Thus, a much needed six months break was more than a welcome respite for the actor.
On the other hand, history has it that Ajay’s film clashes have never gone down too well. Remember the case lodged against the YRF during the epic battle for screens? Gawd! And Ajay’s back on the same track yet again, as his Prabhu Dheva directorial Action Jackson has also locked in for a May 1 release, thereby limiting its chances of having a blockbuster opening. While the competition between two magnanimous films often eats into each other’s business, the similarity in the genres, both being action entertainers are going to hammer on the fact even more!
While Ajay’s Action Jackson is his first time collaboration with maverick director Prabhu Dheva who had revamped the genre with films like Wanted and Rowdy Rathore, Akshay’s Thuppakki remake, tentatively titled Holiday has the actor back in his action mode yet again. But the LOL Award definitely goes out to Sonakshi Sinha, the crowned arm candy who will be seen romancing both Ajay and Akshay in these films. Hence it will also be one of the few, rather rarest moments in Bollywood when two films of a particular actor release on the same day. Sonakshi might have faced a similar fate had Prabhu Dheva’s R… Rajkumar not been shifted from a29 November, which would have meant a clash with her very own Bullett Raja, this time it needs to be seen what kind of abatement policies the two teams have on their minds!
Will the producers come to a mutual agreement or will they keep the battle on, like they did in the JTHJ case. Regardless of what they do, our baby doll Sonakshi surely will face the brunt of it all! We bet.
