Ajay Devgn is all set to star in a remake once again with Drishyam. His last two outings, Action Jackson and Singham Returns haven’t performed as expected. Therefore, all eyes are now set on the intense thriller, Drishyam. Directed by Nishikant Kamath, the film is a remake of a National award winning Malayali film and has already been remade in Tamil and Telugu. Now, for the third time, the film has been made in Hindi.

The Tamil remake starring Kamal Haasan released recently and has won critical acclaim. With veterans like Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan having performed brilliantly as the lead in Drishyam versions, it’s amusing to see how Ajay Devgn will interpret this character.

When asked if it was difficult to step in the shoes of these South Indian cinema legends, Ajay quipped, “I don’t take Kamal Haasan & Mohanlal as my competition. They are marvelous actors and have won awards for their works.”

On comparisons that would arise over his and Mohanlal or Kamal Haasan’s performance, he responded, “They have been versatile actors for 30-35 years. Comparison with them isn’t fair.”

In the past, we have seen Ajay pull off serious and intense roles with ease and ‘Drishyam’ promises a return to his acting chops. The film also stars Tabu and Shriya Saran in key roles.

Drishyam is slated to release on 31st July, 2015.
