The teaser or should we say trailer as it runs for over two minutes of Airlift starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur released yesterday. With an interesting storyline at hand, Airlift is inspired from true events and takes us back to the Gulf war of 1990 when Saddam Hussein led Iraq invaded Kuwait.
The trailer takes off with Akshay Kumar narrating his own story. He plays the character of a successful tycoon named Ranjit Katyal who has made it big in Kuwait. He is influential and has a clout until, the war breaks it all loose. His world is turned upside down and how he becomes the hope for all Indians stranded in the war stricken area. The rescue operation is said to be one of the largest ever by the Indian army.
What really appeals in the trailer is, the recreation of the regions of Kuwait. The production department has done a good job, representing the happenings in a real time format, which gives it a news feel. There is hardly any Nimrat Kaur in the trailer. It is a shame that in spite of being a two minute teaser, we hardly see her.
One of the best dialogues in the trailer is certainly, “Aaj Unhe Bacha Sakta Hai Sirf Wo Desh, Jinhe Unhone Khud Yaad Karna Bandh Kar Diya Tha”.
The background score is good enough, giving it complete edge-of-the-seat thriller feel. The film is coming from the same production team as Baby and D Day and has been directed by Raja Krishna Menon.
After Baby, this once again Akshay’s serious film that will deal with patriotism. The teaser looks promising, hopefully, the film will maintain the same level of conviction.
