With a good list of films lined up for the year on T-Series’ Film slate, producer Bhushan Kumar is keen on taking forward the franchises of Aashiqui and Hate Story; and may also come up with a sequel to Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi and Baby.
In conversation with Koimoi, the producer said, “After the success of Hate Story 2, we will be taking Hate story brand forward with Hate Story 3. Aashiqui 3 is on cards, which also we will start this year. I spoke to Bhatt saab and he said he wants the idea for Aashiqui 3. Aashiqui is a Franchise which has to be with new comers because it is not a continuation of a story.”
He further added, “In India we make very less actual sequels where a story goes forward. Generally a brand, a franchise goes forward. So it is Aashiqui franchise which will go forward once Bhatt saab gives me a script. But other films will not necessarily be made with new comers! For example,we made ‘Baby‘ with Akshay Kumar, so whoever suits the script for Baby 2 will be casted accordingly.”
Further extending on Baby, when asked if he is planning for a sequel to Baby, Bhushan Kumar clarifies saying, “No, we are not planning anything as of now. Right now Baby is still going on, so who will star in Baby 2, what type of script will be there, time will tell.”
On a spree of producing franchises, Bhushan Kumar may also take forward Mahesh Bhatt’s 1991 hit film Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, starring Aamir Khan and Pooja Bhatt. The producer added, “Yes we are also thinking on Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, but we are waiting for a good subject.”
