Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is based in Calcutta and is set against the backdrop of World War II. The trailer gave a very realistic feel of what Calcutta would have looked like in the 1940s and it is easy to get lost in its old world charm. Here’s a history lesson we would love to learn.

Refreshing Music

Those who have seen the trailer would have easily notice the film’s brilliant and energetic background track. DBB‘s music has been composed by the very talented Sneha Khanwalkar who has worked on films like Gangs Of Wasseypur. Music plays a big part of any film, and DBB‘s songs already have us tapping our feet.

Who’s The Villain?
The makers of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy have still kept the villain under-wraps. This is enough to reason for us to watch this film to see who will our hero go up against. We have a feeling that DBB will bring back the era of legendary villains who create lasting impressions on the big screen. Out of all the mysteries in the movie, this revelation will definitely take the cake.

Concept
The film has all the elements of a classic murder mystery – a determined detective, mysterious circumstances, a femme fatale and a complex background. The trailer has left us very curious and the film will undoubtedly be an edgy, shocking and surprising mystery waiting to be unveiled.

  1. Sneha Khanvalkar is not the only producer who has worked on the background score. Infact she has only worked on the ttile song. The main background score was worked on by Dibakar himself and Aggi Agnelo Fernandes (New York, Dhoom3, etc). Parts of the film had originals by some fresh artists.
