A 100 crore film is a byproduct of several elements. The script and star cast being the key elements, one thing is certain that majority of times, the credit is given to the lead superstars. In many occasions, a film in spite of having multiple characters, rides high on the star values and thus even when the lead actresses do not have a plum role in the film, without much contribution, they are termed as the crore club heroines.
Well Koimoi would like to mention actors who are prominent in many films of the 100 and 200 crore clubs. These actors have played supporting actors and Koimoi would like to credit a term to them as Bollywood’s Co-Superstars. This is because of their important characters in various movies in these Box Office Billion Club.
Check out 5 Bollywood Co-superstars here:
1. Abhishek Bachchan
The first person to get a mention as a co-superstar should be Abhishek Bachchan. He has been a part of big films and franchises that have received huge box office success. Characters such as Nandu Bhide in the recent film Happy New Year and also Inspector Jai Dixit in Bollywood’s most successful franchise Dhoom series have been notable and definitive for his career. Abhishek also made a mark in Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan when he tried his hands at comedy and won quite a lot of accolades for it. Thus, with 3 movies in the box office billion club, Abhishek surely deserves the top slot.
2. Riteish Deshmukh
Riteish Deshmukh has proved to be fantastic actor over the years. Known for his excellent comic timing, the actor nearly stunned us with his recent performance as a villain in Ek Villain and truly proved his acting mettle with it. In the number game of box office too, the actor has been quite lucky as his films have made remarkable business. He has his 3 movies in the 100 crore club namely Housefull 2, Grand Masti and Ek Villain and it has to be agreed that his contribution in all the three films was commendable.
3. Vivek Oberoi
Vivek Oberoi unfortunately could not hold well as the lead actor after his grand debut but over time, he has appeared in smaller roles that have been quite effective. The actor after a string of flops gave a powerful performance as the lead villain Kaal in Krrish 3 and thus found himself a film in the crore club. Also after he appeared in the sequel of Masti, the success of Grand Masti gave him another box office success and thus we think that the actor has great potential and is certainly a contender when it comes to the listing of co-superstars.
4. Sanjay Dutt
Due to his personal life being in a legal mess, the actor could not maintain his stature as a lead star but his recent supporting roles in films have been quite impressive. He completely won us over as the dreadful villain as Kancha Cheena in Agneepath. The film was a success at the box office too and thus Sanjay’s contribution has to be acknowledged. Another power packed performance by Sanju Baba in Son Of Sardar was a treat. The 100 crore film deserves a mention as Dutt’s role in it was quite a meatier one. Of course, he has one big film like PK to his credit, which made it to the 300 crore club. However, the role was too short to be counted in the ‘Co-Superstar’ league.
5. Boman Irani
Boman Irani is one actor who excels no matter how big or small his role is. We cannot imagine 3 Idiots without his brilliant role as Viru Sahastrabudhhe a.k.a Virus. His character was not only an important one but the grace with which he pulled it off is worth mentioning. 3 Idiots went on to make box office records as it made 200 crores and thus Boman too has to be given the credit for it. He seems to be a lucky charm at the box office after the success of Don series, his recent film Happy New Year too made 200 crores and in this multi-starrer film he certainly made his character stand out as Tammy Irani.
