From a villainous Mrs. Soniya Roy in Aitraaz to a super model aspirant Meghna Mathur in Fashion, Murderous Susanna in 7 Khoon Maaf to an autistic Jhilmil in Barfi!, and the latest with Mary Kom; Priyanka Chopra has proved to be a chameleon of an actor. The multi faceted Chopra is not only one of the top paid actresses in Bollywood but also an international singer, and made her playback debut in Bollywood with a lullaby ‘Chaoro’ for the biopic Mary Kom. But, there have been films where her acting potential has not been justified.
Here we give out the list of movies which Priyanka Chopra should have said no to.
Yash Raj Films’ Gunday did not have much for the talented Priyanka to put on screen. The story which was centralized on the male leads Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh could have got any other actress to play Nandita, an under cover police officer. Except the dancing, which Priyanka pulled off excellently; her acting skills were underutilized.
Released in 2013, the movie was a remake of 1973 Hindi classic Zanjeer starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. The movie marked Bollywood debut of Tollywood actor Ram Charan; sadly, the actor failed to fit in Mr.Bachchan’s shoes and the movie bombed at Box Office. Well, we wonder what drawn Priyanka to be a part of this film, where she actually had nothing much to do,but play a clichéd character of being a love interest of the lead. Hence. Even this film did not give much space to Priyanka to showcase the immense talent she has, turning out to be just another movie.
Teri Meri Kahaani
The movie’s storyline was not at all of her style, and turned out to be disappointing both for her and the audiences, further making an addition to her flop list. The only thing this movie got Priyanka is the media limelight for her relationship with Shahid Kapoor.
Was it just the ‘Dharma Productions’ banner which made Priyanka sign the film where she was nothing less than that of a supporting actor. Moreover, she had less screen space in this Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt starrer remake of 1990 Agneepath which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa in the lead roles.
Paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka’s performance was not quiet appreciated. Even the audience could not connect well with the story.based on triggering the suicide subject, which was high then, the storytelling was not at all engaging and the storyline looked scattered . Hence it was yet again the bad selection of a story by Priyanka.
Pairing opposite Uday Chopra, who never received positive response for his acting, counts for the first reason for why she should not have done this film. The movie which was the story of two geeks tanked at the Box Office as it actually had nothing to give to its audience.
This fantasy adventure superhero flick which had Abhishek Bachchan in the lead, was appreciated for nothing but its special effects. Hence, the weak and repetitive formula of ‘ good wins over evil’ did not go well and failed badly at the Box Office. And even here it was the bad choice of a story by Chopra which got one more flop to her kitty.
God Tussi Great Ho
The aimless, illogical film without a head and a tail. Performances, story execution, special effects each and everything was criticized and people wondered why was such a film even made. Well, it seems Priyanka’s strategy was to star alongside big heroes rather than be a part of good film.
Love Story 2050
Was it just the genre that impressed Priyanka to do this film? Well, as it is time and again proved that story is the real hero , love story 2050,did not had an impressive storyline and even failed at its execution of clichéd ” Time machine” element. Moreover her on- screen pairing with Harman Baweja, who made his Bollywood debut with this film, did not show up interesting chemistry. Hence, it should be the story that she should have given a thought before signing up this film.
Krrish, the superhero hero series starring Hrithik Roshan, saw Priyanka in two instalments. While the first one gave her the on screen space, but again the role was way too simple for an actress like hers. It further disappointed in the next instalment where she hardly had anything to portray and was overshadowed by Kangana Ranaut. It seems that the actress gave a nod based on the success of Koi Mil Gaya, first instalment of the Krrish series giving her role secondary importance.
