The public and the trade thought that Dum Maaro Dum would get a good opening as it also had the added advantage of the Good Friday holiday and the weekend. In spite of this, the collections for the Abhishek Bachchan-Bipasha Basu starrer were below average considering the hype. Considering the amount that Fox Studios and Ramesh Sippy invested in the film, it is unlikely that they will be able to recover the cost.
