However, metro cities like Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata is having an average occupancy, much due to the last week’s Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer, which is still keeping its magic on in its 2nd week as well.

Nevertheless, with good occupancy in North and Central India circuit, YPD 2 will have a decent opening day collections at the Domestic Box Office, if not great!

What’s Good: Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 is loaded with excerpts from Dabangg Khan’s demeanor and mannerisms. Plus, there is an interesting Orangutan’s revelry which does tickle you right!

What’s Bad: With the main con story diversifying into too many sub plots, this one is an extremely tedious.

Loo break: Must Take.

Watch or Not?: YPD 2 is nothing like its prequel. In keeping with its earlier theme, the film fails to spark off a rollicking camaraderie like its last part. The beating around the bush excitement makes it feel too over stretched! Barely managing to squeeze out a few laughs, YPD 2 in the end is an unimpressive slackened show. Do give this one a miss, it is for the better!

Following from YPD, the film begins with con-men Dharam and Gajodhar retaining their notorious ways. This time posing as multimillionaire businessmen, they decide to con Sir Yograj. Unaware that the man is neck deep in debt, Gajodhar posing as Prem woos his daughter Suman. All was going well in their plan, till Yograj hires the third Deol as his manager. The story has just begun.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Review: Script Analysis

The buffoonery has been tackled without an aorta of logic. The film despite the potential of having you rolling with laughter challenges your gray matter too strongly at places. Tackily done rude humor and script that conspicuously lacks lucid flavor, YPD 2 loses  its novelty by trying too hard to make you laugh. Be it an Orangutan’s masterpiece or Bobby’s illiterate comments on Leonardo Da Vinci, the film hits your funny bones at the wrong places! The narrative refusing to soar at any point in the film, even in the climax, there is no captivating element in this story, making it nothing above crass!

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Review: Star Performances

Since the story fails despite its picturesque setting, the actors try to set all the pre-done wrongs right!

Dharmendra is less feisty this time. Mostly jaded and mellow, his charm doesn’t work at all this time.

Bobby Deol too seems way less energetic than the film’s last edition! Reeking of stale moves, his performance was a low.

Sunny Deol, as the heartwarming Punjabi, is still shattering bones perfectly, even when he is at his drunk worst, and emerges as a show stealer. Punching his performance with his well played subtle comic timing, he is the only one who pitches a worthwhile show.

Besides Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher and Anu Kapoor manage to please us with their endearing screen presence. Anu Kapoor who was last seen in Vicky Donor, manages to do well in the small time frame!

The women, though extremely beautiful lack luster and screen presence. Neha Sharma, is however the better among the two!  There is charm in the ladies, especially Kristina Akheeva, which they don’t use adequately and hence, there aren’t memorable!

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects

Samir Karnik’s YPD was an outright entertainer. But with this one, Sangeeth Sivan uses the same formula and does nothing extraordinary with it. The slapstick comedy along with typical Punjabi-burrrah-action fails to leave any impression at all. The man has disappointed this time, by delivering a tale laced with buffonery that settles for being crass.

Music wise the film is average.

The screenplay is done shabbily infested with loopholes and editing is absolutely terrible. Leaving logic aside, YPD 2 is a flop show!

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Review: The Last Word

The unconvincing and dragging narrative, though served with judicious dosages of action and humor fails to evoke anything substantial in the audiences. Sunny Deol as the Punjabi version of Rajinikanth is the only satiating element of the film! The antics are indigestibly over the top and fail to keep the audiences engrossed!

I am going with a 2 on 5 for this one.  Any day the prequel is a better version and sadly this film couldn’t retain any good from its last edition.

All of this means that Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 would embark on a safe start for itself and with a huge release to boast of, anything over an average of 50% all India opening would be good enough for the film to gain momentum over the weekend. Of course a film of this genre also relies a lot on the word of mouth as the comedy has to really work. As this isn’t a quintessential action fare, laughs and gags would have to be really solid to sustain audience attention. Given the fact that director Sangeeth Sivan has delivered two successful comedies before (Kya Kool Hain Hum, Apna Sapna Money Money), that shouldn’t be an issue.

On its release two years back, Yamla Pagla Deewana had enjoyed the opening weekend of 23 crores and first week collections of 35 crores. There are good chances that this total may well be achieved over the weekend itself. However, at the bare minimum one is looking at the film enjoying a 30 crore weekend at the least unless Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani juggernaut keeps it’s magic on in the second weekend as well.

The screening of the film, that stars her father Dharmendra along with half brothers, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, was a special moment for Esha who has retired herself off films voluntarily and is contemplating on venturing into television production.

Esha, amused at the news of her pregnancy doing rounds on the internet, clarified in a tweet saying, “Sweet of the media but I’m “NOT PREGNANT” would let the world know when that happens as it would be a proud moment for us!”

Esha married businessman Bharat Thaktani after dating him for a year, last June.

The men who personify Macho are back with comic stride all over again. Yamla Pagla Deewana that had its audiences rolling in laughter is back with its sequel. The humorous gusto of the film is power packed even this time. The film’s music is a rollicking ride mostly laced with typically Punjabi dhol tashe. Not a scintillating piece of work, the film boasts its mediocrity with epic desi tadka that deserves just a casual listen.

Main Taan Aidaan Hi Nachna – Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

Made on the base of techno beats, this track has the catchiest tinge to it. Singers Diljit Dosanjh and Sachin Gupta does a good job, but the song’s best part is where Dharamendra joins the leagues of singer to catapult the film’s energy to an escalated level.

Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Title Track – Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

The title track of the film is teamed with good music and apt lyrics that retains the fun characteristic all through. Sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Sukhwinder Singh, the male voices clearly overshadows the female’s. The song has a moderate appeal. The only thing that makes up for it, is its worthy Punjabi lyrics, that holds the song’s tempo!

Changli Hai Changli - Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

Mika Singh seems to personify the cheapster romeo image impeccably. Anuja Chauhan would however be offended with the lyricist of this song, who has downed the standard of the language, Hinglish, she has meticulously cultivated. A very energetic feat, this song doesn’t have a very prolonged shelf life.

Suit Tera Laal Rang Da – Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan together render to this track their unsurpassable energy. With vigorous proceedings, this song merges in with the album’s Punjabi flavor well. It lacks in melody but survives for being interesting!

Jatt Yamla Pagla Ho Gaya – Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

With its predecessor being quite a beautiful effort, this song is tediously repetitive! Sung by Mika and Suzanne D’Mello, this song is a cut-copy-paste replica of the title track of the album.

The Last Word – Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 Music Review

When the prequel film released, the Punjabi season was in its full bloom and the desi Sara tadka was a rage. Years later, this album fails to evoke the same reaction. Sharib-Toshi duo has done a consistent job yet there is nothing refreshing about the album. Mostly dull, there is a clear lack of vision and creativity in the album which sounds largely flat. Some experimentation with the beats and blending different tones would have done the album some good. I am sticking to a 2 on 5 for the album. Give it a hear only for Main Ta Ainda Hi Nachna!

When the events are such celebrity packed affairs it is indeed a crucial and much needed beginning for the film. The star cast of the film Dharamendra, Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol played the perfect hosts for the evening and enthused energy in the show by dancing to the tunes of Main Aida Hi Nachna.

Legendary actor Dharamendra, who stars in the film along with his sons Bobby and Sunny exclaimed gleefully, “I have always wanted to say this and today everyone is there including the media. I want to say that I am the no. 1 dancer. My son Sunny has planned a special song for me, ‘Main aida hi nachna’.”

The actor who has ruled Bollywood for years in his times was seen in an unusually quirky avatar with the first edition of Yamla Pagla Deewana. He was humbled by the presence of his colleagues and other actors and said, “I am so happy for the love and respect which they give me. They all meet me so nicely. Today, whatever I am is because of their love. I wish them all the best and a long life. They should have good films and success should come to them.”

Shooutout At Wadala boasts of a terrific ensemble cast, with a gripping real life storyline and some stellar performances up for grabs. Zanjeer, would definitely be the pick of the season, since the film, that is also being remade in regional language down South has been in news for all the right reasons and the unconventional pairing of its lead actors. Aurangzeb that is all set for a May 17 release, will bring back the crackling Arjun Kapoor back on screen. With a riveting plot that entitles the film, Arjun is all set to do wonders at the Box Office with his second Bolly outing. We are confident!

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani And Ghanchakkar Movie Poster

Clearly, like Race 2 ruled the rooster in the first quarter, the heavyweight championship in the second quarter would be lifted by Ranbir Kapoor – Deepika Padukone’s comeback vehicle Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. From the trailer gripping the nation and the Dil going Badtameez with Balam’s Pichkaari, this Dharma production is definitely and is most likely to walk away with the cake and the cheery even at the Box Office! Hopefully this film would not disappoint us like a super dud Himmatwala yet again. And with Deepika-Ranbir looking smashing in the promos, YJHD is one film that can clearly turn tables around.

And the final release of the second quarter would be a hugely anticipated and awaited, Ghanchakkar that will enthrall the audience, leaving them bamboozled by some epic performances. With Vidya and Emraan sharing screen once again, Ghanchakkar will have the new superstar Balan tag that can help it sail through at the Box Office. History has it that this is one woman who has changed the entire Male Dominated Scenario two years back, and with a superhit like Kahaani, under her able arms, Vidya Balan’s Ghanchakkar is expected to open up to firecrackers at the box office. And with money machine Emraan by her side, garnering in a 100 crore seems a possibility for sure!

Whilst we feel that it would be SAW, Ghanchakkar, YJHD and YPD 2 being the most viable contenders for the coveted 100 crore brigade, we would not be surprised if films like Gippi, Fukrey, Aurangzeb and Aashiqui 2 break even with all pre-conceived notions, like a Vicky Donor or a Kai Po Che! And with KJo, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap’s coalition in Bombay Talkies, Bollywood might just have a classic masterpiece soon!

Deols are known for being the gentlemanly sorts. However when it comes to women around them, they tend to get as protective as it gets. This is something which was pretty much up for display very recently when a co-passenger went a tad overboard on seeing the leading lady of their next film together, ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2‘.

“Deols and Neha Sharma were travelling for promotion and the flight was all peaceful. On landing, they stepped into a bus that was to take them to the arrival. This is when a fan started clicking pictures of Neha. She didn’t mind that to begin with since such things are normal. In fact she took it all rather casually and kept a straight face. However things became a little too repetitive for comfort when the overzealous fan just didn’t stop and was relentless in taking pictures”, informs a source.

Sensing that Neha was getting uncomfortable, Sunny reached out to the passenger and asked him in a polite, yet stern tone, to stop taking pictures. The glare was enough as the fan sheepishly stepped aside, hence allowing the team to move on peacefully. Thankfully for him as well as the other around, the tempers stayed in control and Sunny didn’t really have a wield a ‘dhai kilo ka haath‘.

“Yes, Sunny indeed took good care of me there. All he had to tell that guy was – ‘Dude, you have taken enough photos so now stop’ and that’s it; he was gone”, smiles Neha, “It is good to be in the company of Deols who are an epitome of chivalry. They are the real men of the industry.”

Considering the fact that there is a lot of travel still required for the entire team en route to the film’s June release, it would be interesting to see if Neha gets to see a much more ferocious side of Deols as well.
