If sources are to be believed, the actors will be seen in Prabhudheva’s next untitled film produced by Gordhan Tanwani of Baba Films. Buzz is also that Yami Gautam of Vicky Donor fame has been finalised for an interesting role for the new project.

The recently released Arjun Kapoor thriller, another gangster flick boasts of a powerful dialogue script besides some stellar performances. With Rishi Kapoor’s ‘Badshahat bhaichare ko nahi dekhti’, ‘Kingship Knows No Kinship’ being the defining moment for the film’s plotline, this thriller is riveting and spicy with dollops of rustic charm attached to it. Set in the rural areas, Aurangzeb had the charm attached to its dialogues. ‘Mera baap bolta hai beta uski moti chamrri ka hai, check karein goli bahar jati hai ya bounce hoke yehi reh jaati hai’ cracked us up too!

Shootout At Wadala:

John Abraham surprised all with his breath taking Manya surve avatar but it was his staunch one liners that struck the right cords with the audience in Shootout At Wadala. ‘Gunehgar maa ke pet mein nahin, police station mein bante hain’ and ‘Jail se aane ke baad tu sudhar sakta tha, lekin jo maza bigadne mein hai woh sudharne mein kahan?’ served as perfect recipes for a gangster film but it would definitely be the ‘Yahan suhagraat manane ke liye shaadi nahin karni padti’ line that got the loudest cheers!

Himmatwala:

Though Sajid Khan’s so called Entertainer was a maha dud, what kept us intrigued even for a moment was the gibberishly funny and outlandish slapstick dialogues, more by Paresh Rawal in Himmatwala. From the different cities of India being the perfect ingredient to some humorously laugh-in-the-stomach dialogues, it was Ajay Devgn’s ‘Na main CBI wala, main ek ma ka beta, behen ka bhai, Himmatwala’ that packed in punch with lines like ‘Yeh haath hai ki hathoda? Keedo ki basti mein yeh kaun aagaya makoda?’, ‘Do din mein warna… teesre din tumhara chautha hoga’ and ‘Aap tayyar ho jaiye jijaji, Ravi banega naya sarpanch aur aake marega aapke sar pe punch’ adding onto the slapstick comedy!

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns:

While Mahie Gill’s Biwi had a lot of eroticism heightened with her long braids, she had the most powerful and impact-full dialogues in the film too, outcasting the Saheb and the Gangster with conviction! When Mahie went on saying, ‘Aapko pata hai mard zyada gaaliyan kyun dete hai? Kyunki woh rote kum hai’ and ‘Yeh hamesha mard hi kyun milte hain hum mein … shayar kyun nahi milte?’ the audience went lot-pot in a whistle cracking sea of people. But it was ‘tumhe dekhkar badtameezi karne ko kyun jee karta hai’ that took the oomph level few notches higher for sure! After all, unki toh ‘gaaliyon par bhi taali parti hai’!

Race 2:

A sequel to a highly successful franchise, Race 2 was full of twist and turns, bombarded with a packet full of dialogues thrown in here and there within the film. But our pick would definitely be Saif’s ‘Race hamesha meri thi aur meri hi rahegi, kyunki main is race ka sabse purana khiladi hoon’ although ‘Badla jitna purana hota hai, utna hi khatarnak hota hai’ and ‘Aaj meri wajah se tumhari ek achchi aadat chhoot jayegi, zinda bachne ki’ made quite sense!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan:

Yash Chopra’s swan song was a notch higher when it came to strong dialogues with Shah Rukh Khan, taking away the cake without much a do. When army man Samar goes, ‘Bomb se zyada Zakham to Zindagi deti hai’ and ‘Zindagi toh har roz jaan leti hai, bomb toh sirf ek baar lega’, crowd broke into bouts of sheer joy and excitement. But the poem read out at the backdrop of the lovely Ladakh landscape definitely was unbeatable. Not to mention, Anushka’s Akira had some of the funniest lines too, tickling our funny bones too. For example, ‘Young hoon, sexy hoon, entertaining hoon. In short tumhare liye toh jackpot hoon’ swayed away the Jiya re star!

Rowdy Rathore:

Akshay Kumar delivered a top notch performance as a cop with some brilliantly written one-liners that suited his personality and the film’s requirements with perfection. While ‘Don’t Angry Me’ had T-shirts coming up, it was ‘Main jo bolta hoon who main karta hoon aur main jo nahi bolta, who main definitely karta hoon’ line that the nation got hooked to and how!

Agneepath:

Re-inforcing the Agneepath verse that had gained iconic status after Amitabh Bachchan laid terrific foundations to the lines; it must have been a difficult task for Karan Malhotra, the director and Karan Johar, the producer! But history has it, they managed it with sheer viscosity and aplomb. Form the menacing, ‘tum kya lekaar aaye ho, kya lekar jaoge’ to the ‘Ab mein likhunga geeta ka unneesva adhyay. Vijay Dinanath Chauhan Ko Marna Padega’, this was one film where the antagonist mouthed the best dialogues! Hail Kancha Cheena.

Bodyguard:

When it comes to fultoo dialoguebaazi in complete Bollywood ishtyle, no one can come inches closer to this Dabangg hero. Given the mass hysteria surrounding the super star, anything that he says becomes catch phrase almost instantly, but Bodyguard’s ‘mujhpe ek ehsaan karna ki mujhpe koi ehsaan na karna’ was everyone’s line after the trailer set words on fire. Dialogues, that have been a standpoint in all Salman Khan films, was dashed with a lot of masala and fervour in Bodyguard. After all, ‘Yeh ek akela puri fauj ke barabar hai’ True indeed!

The Dirty Picture:

A bold film, a bold actress and a bold producer: the three combinations to perfect Entertainment roped in a single film; The Dirty Picture probably had the loudest yet the raunchiest dialogues in the history of Indian television till date. While other actors apprehended setting such a stance, Vidya Balan’s effortless dialogue delivery added with her sparkling ooze of naughtiness drove the nation crazy. From ‘abhi toh sirf chhua hai aur leak ho gayi’ to the ‘teri pichkari mein dum hi nahi hai’ and the ‘mujhe jo chahiye uska mazaa sirf raat ko hi aata hai’, the movie was a culmination of some witty and powerful dialogues put in one frame. And no wonder, you can never forget the line that intensified the life of such actresses in that Era: ‘logo ka naam unke kaamon se hota hai, mera badnaam hokar hua hai’. Total ‘Entertainment, entertainment, entertainment’!

Singham:

A welcome change from Rohit Shetty’s series of comic caper entertainers, this high octane action flick made a smooth entry at the 100 crore club amidst a lot of applause, much because of its heavyweight dialogues that kept the crowd enchanted for the two hours of its runtime. While the introductory ‘Jisme hai dum, toh fakht Bajirao Singham’ line broke the audience into loud cheers, lines like ‘Kutto ka jhund kitna bhi bada ho, uske liye ek sher hi kaafi hota hai’ amplified Ajay Devgn’s machismo.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai:

Another gangster flick of sorts, another Ajay Devgn starrer and it had the most powerful writer to do the dialogue. Milan Luthria and his team envisaged a gangster’s life with utmost care bringing out the nitty-gritties of the gangster prone life to the fore, almost magically through their words and verses. Though Once Upon a time in Mumbaai had more than a dozen full of hi-fi dialogues, one of them stands out as a personal favourite. ‘Main un cheezon ki smuggling karta hoon, jinki ijaazat sarkar nahi deti. Un cheezon ki nahi, jinki ijaazat zameer nahi deta’ and ‘Dua Main Yaad Rakhna’ drew applauses from all and sundry

“It’s really not that kind of a film in the first place, it’s not a Dabangg or Rowdy Rathore. It’s a very real film and the story exists in a very real space. So, the effort on the character has also been to try and make him as real as possible,” the 30-year-old said here in an interview.

Khiladi Kumar, who has wowed the audience with his comical stints and high octane action dramas in the past half-a-decade, is now moving on to an out and out action flick, a sequel that has caught the audience’s attention since its launch.

His upcoming next, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again has him in the role of a gangster, he claims, “In OUATIM 2, I play a gangster and Imran works for me. I play Shoaib and Imran is Aslam and we both love Sonakshi. The rest is for you to see it because there is lots of drama in it and this is only what I can reveal now.”

Touted as the continuation from the point where Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai ended, Akshay clears the air about the film once and for all. “Yes, this film is the continuation from the prequel and farak sirf yeh hai ki yaha chehre badle hai. Kahaani wohi se shurur hoti hai jaha khatam hui thi,” Akshay clarified!

Going by his earlier films, Akshay has been sporting his somewhat ‘lucky’ moustache in most of his films, be it Rowdy Rathore or Special 26. So has his moustache become his new lucky charm?

“Mujhe pata nahi iska jawab kya du. I am really happy that people have actually loved me with the moustache and all my films have been working well. But categorizing the films on the basis of that has never come to me. So I don’t take it that way,” laughed out Akshay.

Akshay, who was the only action superstar that India had in the ‘90s, suddenly took off the comical flight to do some mad cap slapstick comic capers in the last decade. Be it the Hera Pheri series or the Housefull sagas, Akshay had it rolling, the hilarious way!

But when Akshay had to choose between Action and Comedy, he quickly retorted back, “I enjoy all the genres. I love acting. I love comedy, I love drama, I love romance and I love doing negative roles also. So I just enjoy doing everything, so there is no preference for me. Earlier, maybe some two-three years back, I used to enjoy comedy. But now, I have changed my point of view and I love doing all kinds of films.”

Such is the occasion that Akshay’s platter is totally filled with movies at the moment. “I have Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again and then I have Boss and I also have a film which is not named yet directed by Murgadoss,” Akshay pinned up his busy schedule right in front of the Media!

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai boasted of powerful musical melodies, will the sequel match up to that trend as well? “We have finalized two songs as of now. And one of them is totally a Sufi number, like the one which was there in the prequel. But most of the songs are yet to be made and composed, so it would be difficult to judge it right now. There are a little bit of some scenes left and the music is unfinished. Otherwise the film is almost complete”.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again  releases on August 8, clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express and the trailer is reportedly going o be unveiled in a few days.

The film will be named Gabbar and not Ramana like its Tamil counterpart. Bhansali who is very careful about the titles of his films pays personal attention to such nitty gritty details. It was Bhansali’s idea to name Rowdy Rathore and the film performed miraculously well despite a hollow script.

The film will also mark the directorial debut of reputed South Director, Krish of Vedam and Gamyam fame. Gabbar story will be focused on common man’s strife against corruption. Bhansali, who has meticulously mastered brilliant cinema is always keen to work on worthwhile scripts, with a well knitted subject and treat it with sensitivity.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will yet again pair up with Shabinaa Khan, the co-producer of Rowdy Rathore for Gabbar. Considering, Rowdy Rathore’s humongous success, Gabbar is expected to recreate the same at the box-office! Bhansali is having a latently thriving year, you bet!

From belting out a powerful one liner in her debut film to becoming the pin up girl of tinsel town, Sonakshi Dabangg Sinha has come a long way. While at a stage where this plump star kid was way too overweight for films and wanted to pursue fashion designing, it was Salman Khan who instilled the ‘keeda’ of acting in her.

“I was really fat and unfit to appear as an actress on screen when other contemporaries were making style statements with their zero sizes and curvy figures. I had none of it back then but Salman cajoled me into losing weight. I would rather say Salman was more confident about me being a good actress rather than me being sure of it”, Sonakshi Sinha chuckled with a bout of her trademark laughter.

Recently as Shotgun Junior bamboozled the crowd switching to a Zeenat Aman-Parveen Babi inspired retro look for her peppy Disco number from Sajid’s Himmatwala, rumours were rife that Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again which is also a blast from the past might have her in a  retro avatar.

“Well Sajid’s song had me in a very different look and the role that I play in this film is obviously a slice of the ‘80s but then again that is also really different from what you saw me in any of my other films or appearances. Both the films are diametrically opposite and here I play a character which is very different from what I have played on screen previously. So the Thank God It’s Friday look is not what I actually have in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again. But I play a woman in the 1950s in Lootera and a woman of 1980s in OUATIM 2 so maybe, the retro look is here to stay!,” she confirmed.

From Dabangg to Rowdy Rathore and Son Of Sardaar, Sonakshi has shared screen space with all the major A-listers ranging from Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn. But a performance driven role is still something a miss from this potentially talented actress. “Yes, Lootera is a completely fleshed out performance driven role that has wowed me when I read the script for the first time. But I have always wanted to do films that I wanted to watch in a theatre myself. Be it a Dabangg or a Rowdy Rathore, I did it because I love watching such entertaining films myself. A film like Lootera comes across very rarely for any actress and that film is a beautiful film. I could not say a no to that film. But I don’t choose a film saying that this is massy and this is classy, so I am doing it. I do films only if I like the story”, clarified the fighter of sorts who has warmed up to a lot of battles and hurdles in her life as well.

With a host of films lined up this year, Sonakshi has her hands full with cinema but when the pretty actress was asked to choose the best from her kitty this year; she picked “Pakhi from Lootera and Yasmin from Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again” as the characters closest to her heart. For the rest, audiences will have their say, it seems!

Directors worth Rs.100 crore!

In this, Salman Khan bettered his own record set by Bodyguard as his Ek Tha Tiger entered the Rs. 100-crore club just within six days of release.

Filmmakers and distributors too are known to leave no stone unturned in their attempt to cross over to the right side of the much-coveted figure, say industry observers. And to recognise the importance of this coveted club and honour the entrants, the Zee Cine Awards 2013 introduced a new award, The Power Club Box Office. Winning this prestigious honour were nine directors whose films crossed the Rs.100-crore mark.

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra — who herself is a part of two Rs.100-crore films this year, Agneepath and Barfi! — handed out the trophies.

Arbaaz Khan (Dabangg 2), Sajid Khan (Housefull 2), Kabir Khan (Ek Tha Tiger), Rohit Shetty (Bol Bachchan), Ashwini Dhir (Son of Sardaar), Karan Malhotra (Agneepath), Anurag Basu (Barfi!) and Prabhudeva (Rowdy Rathore) were recipients of this award. Late filmmaker Yash Chopra was posthumously awarded for his Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Filmmaker Anurag Basu shared with the audience the tip given by producer Ronnie Screwvala. According to Anurag, Ronnie said, “No matter how many awards we win, keep getting this Rs.100-crore trophy back every year!” This had everyone in the audience in splits

Highlighting the political sabotages in the rural districts of Bihar was a difficult task. But thanks to the grueling dialogues that were thrown here and there in Gangs of Wasseypur that made it easy. Cuss words were used with a  lot of staunch, and the ‘Us harami ko Mitana Hai Hamein, Goli Nahin marenge, Keh Ke Lenge Uski’ was just a trailer of what we were about to witness.

A remake that was meant to be compared to its legendary counterpart, Bol Bachchan did an amazing job at leaving up to all expectations, much because of the character’s amazing histrionics, coupled by the witty and push-you-to-thinking one liners mouthed by the cast, at large. Specially the tooti-footi aangrezi like ‘English is a very funny language – Naa pine hain, naa apple; phir bhi pineapple’ by our Prithviji did wonders!

Grasping onto the spotlight and bringing in the glitzy world of glamour and stardust to the centre, Madhur’s Heroine lacked a coherent plot, but the dialogues were quite a gamble that played off excellently. Kareena mouthed some realistically true and harsh lines in the film, with ‘Actors ki dosti tumse nahi, tumhare position se hai’ and the Dubai dialogue creating a media frenzy. After all, ‘Hollywood ho ya Bollywood, har heroine mein teen qualities hotei hai’ because ‘confidence ke saath bolo na toh film industry jhooth ko bhi sach maan leti hai’.

English Vinglish

It was Sridevi’s comeback vehicle, the ultimate battle between our lovely Chalbaaz star and Angrezi that kept us glued to our theatre seats, but English Vinglish could never climbed its way to the pinnacle, sans its heart warming yet hard hitting dialogues that struck the right chords with the audiences. Specially the tryst at the airport immigration office, where Sridevi is ridiculed for her low knowledge of the language, being questioned, how she would actually manage to stay in the States without knowing English, up came the reply amidst a rip roar, ‘Just like the way you manage in our country without knowing Hindi’!

This film was a masterpiece in its own records, a remarkable milestone in the lives of many as Yash Chopra had the perfect swan song with JTHJ scoring hugely big on the dialogue front too. Aditya Chopra’s inspiring lines, starting from the special Jab Tak Hai Jaan poem, to the ardent show of aplomb and attitude deserve applause. The ‘Jab zindagi se bachne ke liye koi bomb suit nahin pehenta, toh bomb ke saamne kyun pehenna? Zindagi toh har din jaan leti hai. Bomb toh bas ek baar lega.’ showed the power and strength while Anushka’s ‘sweet hoon, entertaining hoon, sexy hoon’ act made her a complete ‘jackpot’!

A rip rarer of sorts, Salman Khan who is known to mouth some awesome lines, that anyway becomes the golden liens of the year. And Dabangg 2 was no difference. ‘Swagat nahi karoge aap humara’ went Salman and then there was the entire hysteria about the hernia catch or the cooker ki ceetee line. But the ‘waqt tumhara kharab aaya hai aur din hum gine’ was the ultimate show stealer!

Swaying away from the clichéd cupid struck couples, we present to you the best couples of 2012, who not only set the eyeballs rolling but were sensuous enough to infuse in blossoming love between their characters.

Though major chunks of the film dealt with Akki in grueling action sequences with Sona getting very little scope to deliver, they had the perfect fusion of love, spunk and notoriousness in their love. The age old formula was twisted and love at first sight worked wonders as Ajay and Sonakshi made heads spin and stand out as a couple, in a film that was low on content, except an enviable comic caper act by Juhi Chawla!

Shah Rukh Khan – Katrina Kaif (Jab Tak Hai Jaan)

He is 47. She is 28. But their nineteen year age difference was shut when passion and compassion took over the two actors, on a ride for an unforgettable journey in search of love. Yash Chopra’s last romantic drama was classic yet contemporary but the chemistry that the lead pair Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif shared throughout turned it into a masterpiece. It was just one look in the eyes and we were all floored. When they grooved and gyrated to the peppy Ishq Shava, we watched with mouths wide open and the intimate scenes including the famous SRK kissing scenes were a lot more to deliver! Love is forever, love remains Jab Tak Hai Jaan!

Salman Khan – Sonakshi Sinha (Dabangg 2)

An on screen couple that had ignited a lot of fire in the first edition of Dabangg is back with an even more interesting Dabangg 2. With Sonakshi Sinha getting lot more than mouthing a single dialogue and just standing as a show piece this time, family man Chulbul Pandey’s love for his ladylove Rajjo is palpably visible in the sweet ‘Cooker ki seeti’ dialogue promo and in the bike ride sequence of Saanson Ne. With the film releasing in a day, Salman and Sonakshi are all set to create thunderstorms with their portrayal of chemistry in B Town! We so agree!

What results into is a series of masaledaar and at times, slick action frames blend into a typical pot boiler that keeps us glued to the edge of our seats and how!

Taking a cue from the 1990 classic, Karan Johar took off the grand route to celebrate his father’s film like never before with Agneepath. Kancha Cheena here was a lot more menacing, dangerous and deadly and the action sequences devised by Abbas Ali Moghul kept the pace of the film running just appropriate. The climax scene, the Fight to Finish between Hrithik’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and Sanju Baba’s gory Kancha Cheena was top notch but it was the exciting battle between Vijay and Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor) that we pick!

A slick, stylish romcom agent thriller, made on the lines of Bond and Bourne was just an Indianised version of the tow, but one lacking a good plot. While Saif made everyone go itchy with the 242 suspense, it was only Peter Heins action packed stunts, bike ride, car chases and multiple fight sequences that made Agent Vinod look the way it aimed to be. Nothing too good about this movie, the action was a lot more stylish, excruciating and deft!

Typical Southern masala, Prabhu Deva’s Rowdy Rathore, like all his other flicks was a chuckle of too many bloody action scenes and bland emotions. But Mahinder Verma’s raw action gifted Akshay Kumar with a fresh new slice of Life, just what Wanted did to Salman Khan. Some totally impossible but energetic and laborious hot shots stamped on the rowdiness quotient of the film, thereby sailing the film through with an easy breezy 130 crore knock!

Ek Tha Tiger

While everyone went gaga over Salman’s return to films almost after a year, one thing that people failed to appreciate was that Ek Tha Tiger was less a Salman film, and more a Conrad Palmisano film. The film, with a first-hand coherent plot (thanks to Kabir Khan) was again a love story of an agent, but more than romance, Ek Tha Tiger was overloaded with some polished and uber cool stunts with Katrina Kaif defining her status as Bollywood’s number 1 action heroine, doing some super stunts with convinced ease and Salman, as usual rocked the floor, and made his through a war of ceetees! What an advantage of having a Hollywood action expert, that too, one straight out of Sylvester Stallone’s books, who made the Bourne series look so snappy!

Son Of Sardaar

Ajay Devgn put his action genes to work as he himself took over the reins as the action co-coordinator for his production venture, just the way his father, ace action director Viru Devgan did. Planning the actions, just the way the character of Jassi Randhawa needed, putting in dollops of humour in this madcap saga of comical vendetta. Be it the achaar sequence, or the animated versions of the epic battle, it was the stupidly infectious yet laughable action scenes that added to the film’s almost deadpan humour. Vengeance seriously was funny, courtesy a certain Devgn superstar!

Dabangg 2

The heavyweight of the lot, the ultimate biggie that set tongues wagging for more this Christmas, Salman’s Dabangg 2 did a lot of breakage to ultimately break open some box office records, yet again. Playing the adorable yet fierce cop Chulbul Pandey, Salman broke some laws and few more jaws amidst a lot of crank calls, creating immediate audience frenzy. Anal Arasu designed the action which gave in an adrenaline rush, putting in the perfect concoction of masala with power! Be it the opening rescue scene or the shirtless, err effortless climax sequence, Sal-man was the new Indian superhero born!

With 2012 being a testimony to some groovy, peppy, high octane numbers on one hand, and some soothing melodious romantic tracks on the other, we at Koimoi list down this year’s ten of the best music albums that set all dance floors on fire and pepped up each happening party in the town and amplified the footfall of discotheques and the regular bistro-bars!

An excellent album that was not just high on tempo with a raunchy Chikni Chameli but also had the highly urbane Gun Gun Guna but it was the soulful tearjerker Abhi Mujh Mein Baaki by Sonu Nigam that left our lachrymal glands wanting for tissue papers and our hearts feeling all empty! Ajay-Atul had the perfect mix of all emotions and rocked the music arena with their scintillating album.

A film that really stood out, not just for its unconventional theme and content but also because of the superlative soundtracks that followed bay. Vicky Donor saw an array of composers in Abhishek-Akshay, Donn-Bann, Rochak Kohli but it was the versatile Ayushmann Khurrana who left everyone spellbound with a mesmerizing Paani Da Rang. Mar Jaiya and Rum Rum Whisky were the bonus cherries that we all savored.

The reigning rulers of the Music territory today, Sajid Wajid set all tongues waging for more with a rural and rustic Aa Re Pritam Pyare that not just made the naughty thumkas a trend but also redefined boisterousness. Chinta Ta Ta grew onto you but Chikni Kamar was a little bland! Nevertheless, Rowdy Rathore was much better than being rowdy on the music front!

Pritam spell magic with an awesome album in the form of Cocktail which had an amalgamation of everything. Soulful, melodious and candilyciously sweet, Barfi! had no item numbers to hail through but the beautiful renditions in the form of Ala Barfi, and Phir Le Aaya Dil were heart warming. And selecting this in the top 10 list was inevitable, almost! Main Kya Karu, Dil yeh mera bas main nahi! Get the cue, dahling?

Piyush Mishra took hold of the banter but newbie Sneha Khanwalkar did a stellar job of putting forward the album after her unconventional successes in LSD and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye!

It was definitely the rehashed and revamped Nazia Hassan number Disco Deewane that tried taking away all the cake, but the fusion Radha track gave stiff competition to its own teammate. We must admit!

Fitting the mad comic caper bill with perfection, this album was definitely a nice timeout.

Some people should seriously stick to what they do best! Wink!

While the year started with a bang, one wondered how Salman’s Dabangg 2 would fare on the home ground, but Sajid Wajid stored their best for the last, we feel! Creating an almost replica of the precursor and matching upto the expectations was not just difficult but next to impossible. The music composer duo made everything possible with a delicious album that had everything: a touch-your-heart romantic Dagabaaz Re and Saanson Ne, a high on tempo Pandeyji Seeti Maare, a powerful Dabangg Reloaded and the orgasmic-to-the-ears Fevicol Se.

Actor Imran Khan has been nominated for his acting in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Anushka Sharma has been nominated for her work in Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Others competing in the worst actor (male) category are Ajay Devgn for Son of Sardaar and Bol Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt for Agneepath, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan for Student Of The Year. Akshay Kumar’s name too figures in this list for Housefull 2, Rowdy Rathore, Joker and Khiladi 786.

Apart from Anushka, those nominated for the worst actress trophy are Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty for Cocktail, Farah Khan for Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi, Alia Bhatt for Student Of The Year and Sonakshi Sinha for all her films this year.

Shirish Kunder’s Joker will compete in the worst film category along with Housefull 2, Son Of Sardaar, Khiladi 786, Dabangg 2 and Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

The numbers nominated in the most irritating song category are “Chinta ta chita chita” (Rowdy Rathore), “Son of sardaar” (Son of Sardaar), “Anarkali disco chali” (Housefull 2), “Disco deewane” (Student Of The Year) and “Hookah bar” (Khiladi 786).

The nominations of the most atrocious lyrics are “Ishq wala love” (Student of the Year), “Halkat jawani” (Heroine), “Bipasha Bipasha” (Jodi Breakers), “Pon pon” (Son Of Sardaar), “Chinta ta chita chita (Rowdy Rathore) and “Hookah bar” (Khiladi 786).

The nominees for worst sequel are Dabangg 2, Housefull 2, Jannat 2, Jism 2, Raaz 3, Kya Super Kool Hain Hum, Bhoot Returns and 1920 Evil Returns.

There is another category– Why Are You Still Trying? Award, which has Karisma Kapoor, Chandrachur Singh, Aftab Shivdasani, Shiney Ahuja, Prachi Desai and Jackky Bhagnani as nominees.

The awards will be announced in March.

The big screen had to wait for 12 long years to see Akshay Kumar put on his Khiladi shoes with Khiladi 786. Akshay Kumar who burst into the lime light with Khiladi has come a long way. Audiences and critics’ alike have given thumbs up for the movie and it is running quite successfully in single screen theatres and doing reasonably well in multiplexes.  It is no surprise that it is the same franchise which takes him into the 400 crore mark.
