It was a new trend in the ‘70s but slowly it turned into a notion in the ‘80s and finally in the 1990s and the 2000s, time and again methods were invented to re-revolutionize this assorted technique of entertainment. Yes, dialogues that have been major source of the ceetees and the taalis, and at times gaalis from the audience have always played a major role in the connect with the masses.

From films overloaded with heavy duty dialogues and catchy one-liners, the industry has raised a toast to bhari-bharkam dialogue baazi in total Bollywood style.

Taking a look at some films in the past two years which redefined the emergence of bhashan-baazi, we bring you the best films with the most scintillating dialogues of the new Era.

Aurangzeb And Rowdy Rathore Movie Poster

Aurangzeb:

The recently released Arjun Kapoor thriller, another gangster flick boasts of a powerful dialogue script besides some stellar performances. With Rishi Kapoor’s ‘Badshahat bhaichare ko nahi dekhti’, ‘Kingship Knows No Kinship’ being the defining moment for the film’s plotline, this thriller is riveting and spicy with dollops of rustic charm attached to it. Set in the rural areas, Aurangzeb had the charm attached to its dialogues. ‘Mera baap bolta hai beta uski moti chamrri ka hai, check karein goli bahar jati hai ya bounce hoke yehi reh jaati hai’ cracked us up too!

Shootout At Wadala:

John Abraham surprised all with his breath taking Manya surve avatar but it was his staunch one liners that struck the right cords with the audience in Shootout At Wadala. ‘Gunehgar maa ke pet mein nahin, police station mein bante hain’ and ‘Jail se aane ke baad tu sudhar sakta tha, lekin jo maza bigadne mein hai woh sudharne mein kahan?’ served as perfect recipes for a gangster film but it would definitely be the ‘Yahan suhagraat manane ke liye shaadi nahin karni padti’ line that got the loudest cheers!

Himmatwala:

Though Sajid Khan’s so called Entertainer was a maha dud, what kept us intrigued even for a moment was the gibberishly funny and outlandish slapstick dialogues, more by Paresh Rawal in Himmatwala. From the different cities of India being the perfect ingredient to some humorously laugh-in-the-stomach dialogues, it was Ajay Devgn’s ‘Na main CBI wala, main ek ma ka beta, behen ka bhai, Himmatwala’ that packed in punch with lines like ‘Yeh haath hai ki hathoda? Keedo ki basti mein yeh kaun aagaya makoda?’, ‘Do din mein warna… teesre din tumhara chautha hoga’ and ‘Aap tayyar ho jaiye jijaji, Ravi banega naya sarpanch aur aake marega aapke sar pe punch’ adding onto the slapstick comedy!

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster Returns:

While Mahie Gill’s Biwi had a lot of eroticism heightened with her long braids, she had the most powerful and impact-full dialogues in the film too, outcasting the Saheb and the Gangster with conviction! When Mahie went on saying, ‘Aapko pata hai mard zyada gaaliyan kyun dete hai? Kyunki woh rote kum hai’ and ‘Yeh hamesha mard hi kyun milte hain hum mein … shayar kyun nahi milte?’ the audience went lot-pot in a whistle cracking sea of people. But it was ‘tumhe dekhkar badtameezi karne ko kyun jee karta hai’ that took the oomph level few notches higher for sure! After all, unki toh ‘gaaliyon par bhi taali parti hai’!

Race 2:

A sequel to a highly successful franchise, Race 2 was full of twist and turns, bombarded with a packet full of dialogues thrown in here and there within the film. But our pick would definitely be Saif’s ‘Race hamesha meri thi aur meri hi rahegi, kyunki main is race ka sabse purana khiladi hoon’ although ‘Badla jitna purana hota hai, utna hi khatarnak hota hai’ and ‘Aaj meri wajah se tumhari ek achchi aadat chhoot jayegi, zinda bachne ki’ made quite sense!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan:

Yash Chopra’s swan song was a notch higher when it came to strong dialogues with Shah Rukh Khan, taking away the cake without much a do. When army man Samar goes, ‘Bomb se zyada Zakham to Zindagi deti hai’ and ‘Zindagi toh har roz jaan leti hai, bomb toh sirf ek baar lega’, crowd broke into bouts of sheer joy and excitement. But the poem read out at the backdrop of the lovely Ladakh landscape definitely was unbeatable. Not to mention, Anushka’s Akira had some of the funniest lines too, tickling our funny bones too. For example, ‘Young hoon, sexy hoon, entertaining hoon. In short tumhare liye toh jackpot hoon’ swayed away the Jiya re star!

Rowdy Rathore:

Akshay Kumar delivered a top notch performance as a cop with some brilliantly written one-liners that suited his personality and the film’s requirements with perfection. While ‘Don’t Angry Me’ had T-shirts coming up, it was ‘Main jo bolta hoon who main karta hoon aur main jo nahi bolta, who main definitely karta hoon’ line that the nation got hooked to and how!

Agneepath:

Re-inforcing the Agneepath verse that had gained iconic status after Amitabh Bachchan laid terrific foundations to the lines; it must have been a difficult task for Karan Malhotra, the director and Karan Johar, the producer! But history has it, they managed it with sheer viscosity and aplomb. Form the menacing, ‘tum kya lekaar aaye ho, kya lekar jaoge’ to the ‘Ab mein likhunga geeta ka unneesva adhyay. Vijay Dinanath Chauhan Ko Marna Padega’, this was one film where the antagonist mouthed the best dialogues! Hail Kancha Cheena.

Bodyguard:

When it comes to fultoo dialoguebaazi in complete Bollywood ishtyle, no one can come inches closer to this Dabangg hero. Given the mass hysteria surrounding the super star, anything that he says becomes catch phrase almost instantly, but Bodyguard’s ‘mujhpe ek ehsaan karna ki mujhpe koi ehsaan na karna’ was everyone’s line after the trailer set words on fire. Dialogues, that have been a standpoint in all Salman Khan films, was dashed with a lot of masala and fervour in Bodyguard. After all, ‘Yeh ek akela puri fauj ke barabar hai’ True indeed!

The Dirty Picture:

A bold film, a bold actress and a bold producer: the three combinations to perfect Entertainment roped in a single film; The Dirty Picture probably had the loudest yet the raunchiest dialogues in the history of Indian television till date. While other actors apprehended setting such a stance, Vidya Balan’s effortless dialogue delivery added with her sparkling ooze of naughtiness drove the nation crazy. From ‘abhi toh sirf chhua hai aur leak ho gayi’ to the ‘teri pichkari mein dum hi nahi hai’ and the ‘mujhe jo chahiye uska mazaa sirf raat ko hi aata hai’, the movie was a culmination of some witty and powerful dialogues put in one frame. And no wonder, you can never forget the line that intensified the life of such actresses in that Era: ‘logo ka naam unke kaamon se hota hai, mera badnaam hokar hua hai’. Total ‘Entertainment, entertainment, entertainment’!

Singham:

A welcome change from Rohit Shetty’s series of comic caper entertainers, this high octane action flick made a smooth entry at the 100 crore club amidst a lot of applause, much because of its heavyweight dialogues that kept the crowd enchanted for the two hours of its runtime. While the introductory ‘Jisme hai dum, toh fakht Bajirao Singham’ line broke the audience into loud cheers, lines like ‘Kutto ka jhund kitna bhi bada ho, uske liye ek sher hi kaafi hota hai’ amplified Ajay Devgn’s machismo.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai:

Another gangster flick of sorts, another Ajay Devgn starrer and it had the most powerful writer to do the dialogue. Milan Luthria and his team envisaged a gangster’s life with utmost care bringing out the nitty-gritties of the gangster prone life to the fore, almost magically through their words and verses. Though Once Upon a time in Mumbaai had more than a dozen full of hi-fi dialogues, one of them stands out as a personal favourite. ‘Main un cheezon ki smuggling karta hoon, jinki ijaazat sarkar nahi deti. Un cheezon ki nahi, jinki ijaazat zameer nahi deta’ and ‘Dua Main Yaad Rakhna’ drew applauses from all and sundry

Sonakshi Sinha has finally done it. She has coloured her hair a rich shade of burgundy. After refusing to change her looks in any of her films, the actress eventually yielded to temptation.

Her long hair drove Salman Khan crazy in the Dabangg series, Ajay Devgn and gang were reduced to making Po Po noises in Son of Sardaar while Akshay Kumar kept singing Dhadhang Dhang Dhang in Rowdy Rathore to the Patna ka Phooljari… Sonakshi Sinha has used her tresses well in all her films. Asked if she will ever sport short hair, the actress is quick in her repartee of saying, “never”…

Today, Sonakshi feeds her hair a good diet.. From oiling her hair to indulging in hair spas, Sona takes her hair seriously. As the face of Streax, she used their burgundy shade to style her hair.

Southern actor Prithviraj, who plays a policeman in Aurangzeb, says the movie is different from commercial cop films like Dabangg and Rowdy Rathore.

“It’s really not that kind of a film in the first place, it’s not a Dabangg or Rowdy Rathore. It’s a very real film and the story exists in a very real space. So, the effort on the character has also been to try and make him as real as possible,” the 30-year-old said here in an interview.

Akshay Kumar

Khiladi Kumar, who has wowed the audience with his comical stints and high octane action dramas in the past half-a-decade, is now moving on to an out and out action flick, a sequel that has caught the audience’s attention since its launch.

His upcoming next, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again has him in the role of a gangster, he claims, “In OUATIM 2, I play a gangster and Imran works for me. I play Shoaib and Imran is Aslam and we both love Sonakshi. The rest is for you to see it because there is lots of drama in it and this is only what I can reveal now.”

Touted as the continuation from the point where Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai ended, Akshay clears the air about the film once and for all. “Yes, this film is the continuation from the prequel and farak sirf yeh hai ki yaha chehre badle hai. Kahaani wohi se shurur hoti hai jaha khatam hui thi,” Akshay clarified!

Going by his earlier films, Akshay has been sporting his somewhat ‘lucky’ moustache in most of his films, be it Rowdy Rathore or Special 26. So has his moustache become his new lucky charm?

“Mujhe pata nahi iska jawab kya du. I am really happy that people have actually loved me with the moustache and all my films have been working well. But categorizing the films on the basis of that has never come to me. So I don’t take it that way,” laughed out Akshay.

Akshay, who was the only action superstar that India had in the ‘90s, suddenly took off the comical flight to do some mad cap slapstick comic capers in the last decade. Be it the Hera Pheri series or the Housefull sagas, Akshay had it rolling, the hilarious way!

But when Akshay had to choose between Action and Comedy, he quickly retorted back, “I enjoy all the genres. I love acting. I love comedy, I love drama, I love romance and I love doing negative roles also. So I just enjoy doing everything, so there is no preference for me. Earlier, maybe some two-three years back, I used to enjoy comedy. But now, I have changed my point of view and I love doing all kinds of films.”

Such is the occasion that Akshay’s platter is totally filled with movies at the moment. “I have Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again and then I have Boss and I also have a film which is not named yet directed by Murgadoss,” Akshay pinned up his busy schedule right in front of the Media!

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai boasted of powerful musical melodies, will the sequel match up to that trend as well? “We have finalized two songs as of now. And one of them is totally a Sufi number, like the one which was there in the prequel. But most of the songs are yet to be made and composed, so it would be difficult to judge it right now. There are a little bit of some scenes left and the music is unfinished. Otherwise the film is almost complete”.

Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again releases on August 8, clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express and the trailer is reportedly going o be unveiled in a few days.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is on a spree. With his film Ram Leela scheduled for a release later this year and news of the revival of his dream project Bajirao Mastani doing rounds, he is now contemplating the remake of the 2002 Tamil Blockbuster, Ramana. Akshay Kumar is rumored to be considered for the lead role of Gabbar in the film. However, the team hasn’t zeroed on the lead actress yet. Going by Bhansali’s trend of pairing unlikely actors in the same frame like Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone for Ram Leela, one can assuredly expect a similar never-seen-before on screen pairing.

The film will be named Gabbar and not Ramana like its Tamil counterpart. Bhansali who is very careful about the titles of his films pays personal attention to such nitty gritty details. It was Bhansali’s idea to name Rowdy Rathore and the film performed miraculously well despite a hollow script.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Akshay Kumar

The film will also mark the directorial debut of reputed South Director, Krish of Vedam and Gamyam fame. Gabbar story will be focused on common man’s strife against corruption. Bhansali, who has meticulously mastered brilliant cinema is always keen to work on worthwhile scripts, with a well knitted subject and treat it with sensitivity.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will yet again pair up with Shabinaa Khan, the co-producer of Rowdy Rathore for Gabbar. Considering, Rowdy Rathore’s humongous success, Gabbar is expected to recreate the same at the box-office! Bhansali is having a latently thriving year, you bet!

Sonakshi Sinha

From belting out a powerful one liner in her debut film to becoming the pin up girl of tinsel town, Sonakshi Dabangg Sinha has come a long way. While at a stage where this plump star kid was way too overweight for films and wanted to pursue fashion designing, it was Salman Khan who instilled the ‘keeda’ of acting in her.

“I was really fat and unfit to appear as an actress on screen when other contemporaries were making style statements with their zero sizes and curvy figures. I had none of it back then but Salman cajoled me into losing weight. I would rather say Salman was more confident about me being a good actress rather than me being sure of it”, Sonakshi Sinha chuckled with a bout of her trademark laughter.

Recently as Shotgun Junior bamboozled the crowd switching to a Zeenat Aman-Parveen Babi inspired retro look for her peppy Disco number from Sajid’s Himmatwala, rumours were rife that Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again which is also a blast from the past might have her in a retro avatar.

“Well Sajid’s song had me in a very different look and the role that I play in this film is obviously a slice of the ‘80s but then again that is also really different from what you saw me in any of my other films or appearances. Both the films are diametrically opposite and here I play a character which is very different from what I have played on screen previously. So the Thank God It’s Friday look is not what I actually have in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again. But I play a woman in the 1950s in Lootera and a woman of 1980s in OUATIM 2 so maybe, the retro look is here to stay!,” she confirmed.

From Dabangg to Rowdy Rathore and Son Of Sardaar, Sonakshi has shared screen space with all the major A-listers ranging from Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn. But a performance driven role is still something a miss from this potentially talented actress. “Yes, Lootera is a completely fleshed out performance driven role that has wowed me when I read the script for the first time. But I have always wanted to do films that I wanted to watch in a theatre myself. Be it a Dabangg or a Rowdy Rathore, I did it because I love watching such entertaining films myself. A film like Lootera comes across very rarely for any actress and that film is a beautiful film. I could not say a no to that film. But I don’t choose a film saying that this is massy and this is classy, so I am doing it. I do films only if I like the story”, clarified the fighter of sorts who has warmed up to a lot of battles and hurdles in her life as well.

With a host of films lined up this year, Sonakshi has her hands full with cinema but when the pretty actress was asked to choose the best from her kitty this year; she picked “Pakhi from Lootera and Yasmin from Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again” as the characters closest to her heart. For the rest, audiences will have their say, it seems!

Sonakshi Sinha continues to be busier than ever. After four releases last year (Rowdy Rathore, Joker, Son of Sardaar, Dabangg 2), she would be seen in at least four more (Lootera, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2, Bullet Raja and Rambo Rajkumar). She is also shooting for Telugu flick ‘Shivam’ and remake of ‘Thuppakki’

With director Subhash Kapoor being roped in as a director for the third instalment of ‘Munnabhai’, there is a renewed interest in his Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani starrer ‘Jolly LLB’ which is anyways looking good

This would also lead to an interesting clash on 15th March with ’3G’ and ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ arriving on the same date

With Akshay Kumar’s ‘Boss’ all set for 18th October release, it would gain a clear fortnight long run till Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krrish 3′ arrives on Diwali

After a disastrous ‘Maan Gaye Mughall-E-Azam’, Sanjay Chhel would be making his comeback as a director with a comedy starring Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal as the central protagonists

The year 2012 proved to be a remarkable one for Bollywood. The landmark year not only saw a rise in the number of films winning critical acclaim, but was also declared a successful one commercially. In fact, 2012 saw Indian cinema create a history of sorts with as many as nine Hindi films entering the aspirational Rs. 100-crore club, which seems to have become a new benchmark of success in B-Town.

Directors worth Rs.100 crore!

In this, Salman Khan bettered his own record set by Bodyguard as his Ek Tha Tiger entered the Rs. 100-crore club just within six days of release.

Filmmakers and distributors too are known to leave no stone unturned in their attempt to cross over to the right side of the much-coveted figure, say industry observers. And to recognise the importance of this coveted club and honour the entrants, the Zee Cine Awards 2013 introduced a new award, The Power Club Box Office. Winning this prestigious honour were nine directors whose films crossed the Rs.100-crore mark.

Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra — who herself is a part of two Rs.100-crore films this year, Agneepath and Barfi! — handed out the trophies.

Arbaaz Khan (Dabangg 2), Sajid Khan (Housefull 2), Kabir Khan (Ek Tha Tiger), Rohit Shetty (Bol Bachchan), Ashwini Dhir (Son of Sardaar), Karan Malhotra (Agneepath), Anurag Basu (Barfi!) and Prabhudeva (Rowdy Rathore) were recipients of this award. Late filmmaker Yash Chopra was posthumously awarded for his Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Filmmaker Anurag Basu shared with the audience the tip given by producer Ronnie Screwvala. According to Anurag, Ronnie said, “No matter how many awards we win, keep getting this Rs.100-crore trophy back every year!” This had everyone in the audience in splits

Vote For The Best Actor Of 2012

Acting, as we call it, is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances and actors who nail them down are embodiments of powerhouse talents. In a year, enveloped in a mighty number of action comedies, spy thrillers, classic yet contemporary love sagas and purely high octane action dramas, Bollywood’s A-listed actors have taken a mighty leap towards connecting with the masses and the classes!

Be it Ranbir Kapoor’s mute avatar or the lover-boy-turned-angry-young man Shah Rukh Khan or the haasi-se-lotpot comical vendetta king Ajay Devgn, we bring you the top 8 star performances that robbed us of our hearts last year.

Hrithik Roshan for Agneepath

Hrithik Roshan in a still from Agneepath Movie

Revamping an iconic character was difficult, and when it’s Amitji’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan to be re-enacted on screen, the pressure is well on the actor. Hrithik Roshan scorched screens with a strong and gritty performance in KJo’s remake of Agneepath. With the zeal and fire burning within Vijay inevitable through Hrithik’s eyes and emotions, we lived a fairy tale and how.

Akshay Kumar for Rowdy Rathore

Akshay Kumar in a still from Rowdy Rathore Movie

The ultimate rockstar who cashed in the most moolahs for the industry this year with all his films setting benchmarks, Akshay Kumar is riding real high on his successes. But over the year, it was his Rowdy Rathore edition that stood out among all his other works. Playing the zabardast cop with no paunch, Akshay made his way into our list so easy-breezy.

Saif Ali Khan for Cocktail

Saif Ali Khan in a still from Cocktail Movie

Whilst his ambitious Agent Vinod went down the drains, it was Homi Adjania’s love story Cocktail that brought Saif Ali Khan back into the race. Saif’s character touched hearts and his performance deserved applause.

Ranbir Kapoor for Barfi!

Ranbir Kapoor in a still from Barfi! Movie

While all his contemporaries tasted success with the verve in their dialogues, this man made the earth stand still with no dialogues and only expressions. Be it the sweet and extremely charming proposal scene between Barfi and Shruti or the mind blowing rejection scene where Barfi vents out his anger and temper, only through his eye work! Ranbir Kapoor spelled magic with a capital M yet again as he moved on to Being Barfi!.

Salman Khan for Ek Tha Tiger

Salman Khan in a still from Ek Tha Tiger Movie

The first ever association between India’s biggest star and India’s biggest production house made way for our own Being Human superstar trying his hands into something oh-so-different and trendy. Essaying the role of Tiger, the Indian spy agent was one which Salman pulled off with assumed comfort but it was the panache and the starry aura that made Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger stand out!

Ajay Devgn for Son of Sardaar

Ajay Devgn in a still from Son of Sardaar Movie

A hysterical series of comical vengeance where vindication was redefined on terms of laughter giggles and humour, Son Of Sardaar with Ajay Devgn in the lead scored high, more because of Ajay’s earnest comic caper act and the delicious Po-Po song.

Shah Rukh Khan for Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Shah Rukh Khan in a still from Jab Tak Hai Jaan Movie

It was the Yash Chopra-SRK duo, the first time on screen jodi SRK-Kat, the Rahman-Gulzar collision that were mighty reasons for this monumental film, a milestone in the history of Indian cinematic romance. But Jab Tak Hai Jaan would never have been the same without our lovely and hugely creative Shah Rukh Khan. Infusing life into Samar Anand, playing the loverboy and the high-on-attitude army officer with equal aplomb, SRK kept his romantic flags flying real high.

Salman Khan for Dabangg 2

Salman Khan in a still from Dabangg 2 Movie

When Robinhood Pandey turned Kung- Fu Pandey in Dabangg 2, we went rip roaring in laughter, smiling every moment, and at times slipping back into the emotional backseat. Salman relived his almost iconic Chulbul Pandey with astonishment as the elements of emotions missing from Dabangg’s first edition were instilled in this one, through an excellent performance stealing the show all over again. The West might have Batman and the Supermans, India has its Salman packing in the punch!

A mammoth number of films releasing last year, some went on to create stammering box office records and some went to awe the audience with its charm and the brilliance portrayal of silence in the most candid avatar! The directors’ chair attained gravitas when their vision which they envisioned for the masses went on to strike just the right balance .

Finally, as the year drew to a closure and the new year is welcomed with open hands, we list down the top 10 directors and their top 10 films that made 2012 go down the lanes of history as well.

Karan Malhotra for Agneepath

Agneepath Movie Poster

An age old story of personal vengeance was remade into a classic cosmopolitan new-age drama that suited the generation to the tee. Karan’s desire to make his father’s dream come true on celluloid was given the shape of reality when Karan the director, stepped in. Pulling out an average original to the roads of glory, Karans emerged victorious.

Sujoy Ghosh for Kahaani

Kahaani Movie Poster

A definitive film maker, a creatively talented genius who just needed the right script to show his directional prowess, Sujoy Ghosh struck gold with his Kahaani. Spine chilling and befitting, Sujoy’s Kolkata cinematography won hearts but it was his effortless direction and Vidya’s standalone performance that made the enterprise such a huge success.

Shoojit Sircar for Vicky Donor

Vicky Donor Movie Poster

A comic caper of sorts, Vicky Donor was aimed to cause a stir on the social level, dealing with the sensitive issue of sperm donation through wit and humour. The script stood out as the main hero but it was Shoojit’s behind the camera work that helped Vicky donor emerge as one of the best selling small budget films. Rest as we know is history!

Prabhu Deva for Rowdy Rathore

Rowdy Rathore Movie Poster

He directed Wanted and made masala action oh-so-delicious in the filmdom. Following the route, he took on to the director’s chair for Rowdy Rathore, signing Akshay Kumar as the rowdy one. With some baffling action stunt sequences, all under his helm, he scored real high with his direction. Result: the film went on to fetch a whooping 130 crore plus lifetime collection.

Anurag Basu for Barfi!

Barfi! Movie Poster

A fighter himself, this Bengali dada brought in his humility and good heartedness on screen through a mind blowing masterpiece, shouldered by some brilliant performances. Anurag brought the best out of Barfi@ and Jhilmil, on reel and real for sure! Dada rocked with his Barfi! and how!

Gauri Shinde for English Vinglish

English Vinglish Movie Poster

A socially resurgent theme, one that stands high on the Indian social backdrop, Gauri Shinde’s story, inspired from her own mother, not only brought life back to celluloid with Sridevi getting in for a comeback, but also the emotions and the little nuances of an Indian housewife who doesn’t know English. Sridevi played Shashi with aplomb but it was Gauri who assured the world that Sridevi can still deliver.

Kabir Khan for Ek Tha Tiger

Ek Tha Tiger Movie Poster

A high octane adrenaline pumping action spy thriller, with the once upon a time jodi Salman and Katrina playing the leads, Ek Tha Tiger was riding on Salman’s thunderous star presence for sure. But what Kabir made out of an almost no-brainer masala flick with a loose script was beyond admiration.

Umesh Shukla for OMG Oh My God!

OMG Oh My God! Movie Poster

A Bollywood satire that was satirical in the truest form, OMG Oh My God! rightfully questioned and hammered upon the wrong notions and the beliefs that we have. Worshipping God isn’t a crime at all, but worshipping the saints and the purohits who call themselves demi-gods is definitely the point which Umesh’s strong screenplay nailed upon.

Yash Chopra for Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Jab Tak Hai Jaan Movie Poster

The King of Romance was back with his last directorial venture and before he could see the world savoring upon the masterpiece he created, he left us for the heavenly abode. But the gift that Yashji had left for us in the form of Jab Tak Hai Jaan was something beyond surreal. Depicting a romantic saga after ages, that too with a somewhat loose plot, Yashji’s direction definitely turned this film into a landmark. Driving in the best from all his protagonists and churning the film into a classic yet modern love ballad, Yash Chopra lived on with his boots on. We agree!

Arbaaz Khan for Dabangg 2

Dabangg 2 Movie Poster

Matching up to the shoes of Abhinav Kashyap who turned the complete Bollywood story with his Dabangg was definitely difficult but not impossible for our first time actor-turned-director Arbaaz Khan. The dialogues might have lacked the punch than Dabangg had but Dabangg 2 was no way less than its prequel. Moreover, this movie stressed on the emotional aspect of our Robinhood-Pandey-now-Kung-Fu-Pandey even better!

From the ‘Main tumhare bachche ki maa banne waali hoon’ to ‘Mere paas maa hai’, Bollywood has stood witness to some highly melodramatic dialogues in the past century that the Indian film industry recently surpassed. But with raunchier, bolder and wittier lines in films today, Bollwood film makers have revamped their ways of storytelling and plot narration.

In a year with as many as over 100 good films, we highlight the top 10 films that stood out on the muh-tor dialoguebaazi department.

Agneepath

Still from Agneepath Movie

When KJo revisited the legendary sphere that his father had built around himself, he chose to deliver dialogues with all the punch. Reminiscing the brilliant ‘Agneepath Agneepath’ lines from Harivansh saab’s recitals or the ‘tum kya leke aaye the aur kya leke jaoge’ by the menacing antagonist, the writer did a fair job of putting some powerful words into the mouths of the lead stars.

Vicky Donor

Still from Vicky Donor Movie

When Dr Chaddha recalled sperm donation, an ancient process, much from the times of Mahabharata, referring Vicky as the new age Aryaputtar, we went lotpot in laughter. Vicky Donor’s dialogues caught the attention, assessing the underlying area of seriousness with their charm and humour!

Rowdy Rathore

Still from Rowdy Rathore Movie

Spelling masala to the tee, Rowdy Rathore fed each one of us with a mouthful of gritty and bloody terms, with flavours of spice from here and there. Main Jo Bolta Hu Woh Karta Hu, Aur Jo Main Nahi Bolta Wo Main Definitely Karta Hu became a catchphrase soon. Expected, as usual!

Gangs of Wasseypur

Still from Gangs of Wasseypur Movie

Highlighting the political sabotages in the rural districts of Bihar was a difficult task. But thanks to the grueling dialogues that were thrown here and there in Gangs of Wasseypur that made it easy. Cuss words were used with a lot of staunch, and the ‘Us harami ko Mitana Hai Hamein, Goli Nahin marenge, Keh Ke Lenge Uski’ was just a trailer of what we were about to witness.

Bol Bachchan

Still from Bol Bachchan Movie

A remake that was meant to be compared to its legendary counterpart, Bol Bachchan did an amazing job at leaving up to all expectations, much because of the character’s amazing histrionics, coupled by the witty and push-you-to-thinking one liners mouthed by the cast, at large. Specially the tooti-footi aangrezi like ‘English is a very funny language – Naa pine hain, naa apple; phir bhi pineapple’ by our Prithviji did wonders!

Heroine

Still from Heroine Movie

Grasping onto the spotlight and bringing in the glitzy world of glamour and stardust to the centre, Madhur’s Heroine lacked a coherent plot, but the dialogues were quite a gamble that played off excellently. Kareena mouthed some realistically true and harsh lines in the film, with ‘Actors ki dosti tumse nahi, tumhare position se hai’ and the Dubai dialogue creating a media frenzy. After all, ‘Hollywood ho ya Bollywood, har heroine mein teen qualities hotei hai’ because ‘confidence ke saath bolo na toh film industry jhooth ko bhi sach maan leti hai’.

English Vinglish

Still from English Vinglish Movie

It was Sridevi’s comeback vehicle, the ultimate battle between our lovely Chalbaaz star and Angrezi that kept us glued to our theatre seats, but English Vinglish could never climbed its way to the pinnacle, sans its heart warming yet hard hitting dialogues that struck the right chords with the audiences. Specially the tryst at the airport immigration office, where Sridevi is ridiculed for her low knowledge of the language, being questioned, how she would actually manage to stay in the States without knowing English, up came the reply amidst a rip roar, ‘Just like the way you manage in our country without knowing Hindi’!

Student Of The Year

still from Student Of The Year Movie

The Cha mein u ki matra, ta mein ee ki matra, aur ya mein aa ki matra might refer to something as foul as a Hindi gaali, but the way it was sugar coated and presented showed the amount of labour and wit that had gone into making each line of the film. Karan and his team, take a bow!

Jab Tak Hai Jaan

Still from Jab Tak Hai Jaan Movie

This film was a masterpiece in its own records, a remarkable milestone in the lives of many as Yash Chopra had the perfect swan song with JTHJ scoring hugely big on the dialogue front too. Aditya Chopra’s inspiring lines, starting from the special Jab Tak Hai Jaan poem, to the ardent show of aplomb and attitude deserve applause. The ‘Jab zindagi se bachne ke liye koi bomb suit nahin pehenta, toh bomb ke saamne kyun pehenna? Zindagi toh har din jaan leti hai. Bomb toh bas ek baar lega.’ showed the power and strength while Anushka’s ‘sweet hoon, entertaining hoon, sexy hoon’ act made her a complete ‘jackpot’!

Dabangg 2

Still from Dabangg 2 Movie

A rip rarer of sorts, Salman Khan who is known to mouth some awesome lines, that anyway becomes the golden liens of the year. And Dabangg 2 was no difference. ‘Swagat nahi karoge aap humara’ went Salman and then there was the entire hysteria about the hernia catch or the cooker ki ceetee line. But the ‘waqt tumhara kharab aaya hai aur din hum gine’ was the ultimate show stealer!

From Mohit Chauhan’s soulful melodies to Mika Singh’s tadkedaar party numbers and Himmesh Reshammiya’s urbane tracks, 2012 was the perfect year of the mix and match – high on romance and party.

Looking back at the year gone by, we recognize the best male voices that shot these songs to the ultimate crescendo.

Mika Singh for Chinta Ta (Rowdy Rathore)

A hippy desi masala track could only be brought into the spotlight by the voice that rocks the party charts nationwide. Yes, Mika Singh who has dominated the rooster for years now mesmerized us with an amazingly versed Chinta Ta, blended in typical Dosa-idli style.

Ayushmann Khurrana for Pani Da Rang (Vicky Donor)

A teenage composition took the shape of a soulful rendition when director Shoojit Sircar let open the treasure trove that Ayushmann Khurrana chests within. And Pani Da Rang became a phenomenon since the inception, much due to the lovely romantic connect attached with the song.

Mohit Chauhan for Ala Barfi! (Barfi!)

A movie that characterized the strength of silence and emotions through expressions, the leading man in the field today, Mohit Chauhan did full justice to the song that paved the pathway for the film’s main character. What Mohit did to Ala Barfi!, no one possibly could have done that.

Sonu Nigam for Abhi Mujh Mein Kahi (Agneepath)

With Abhi Mujh Mein Kahi from Agneepath, Sonu Nigam re-proved his mettle and rose like a phoenix and soared high up in the sky! The song was a tearjerker, bringing in the perfect use of our lachrymal glands.

Arijit Singh for Raabta (Agent Vinod)

A reality show contestant some few years back, assistant to Pritam and an extremely versatile singer, Arijit Singh set the nation swaying to his tunes with the romantic ballet Raabta.

Vishal Dadlani for Jee Le Zara (Talaash)

Ram Sampath created magic with his music genes as she spelled beauty with the Talaash numbers. And Vishal, the rock-star resorted to a nice, lovely, yet agonizing number. Jee Le Zara ranked high on creativity and emotional values.

Mohit Chauhan for Saans (Jab Tak Hai Jaan)

An album that had a masterpiece written on it with A. R. Rahman, Gulzar and Yash Chopra teaming up together for the first and unfortunately the last time, the Saans number from Jab Tak Hai Jaan raised the barometric level with a sparkling chemistry between the lead vocalists Mohit and Shreya.

Himmesh Reshammiya for Hookah Bar (Khiladi 786)

You love him, you hate him but you simply can’t ignore him, and after all the melodious renditions he came up with the party anthem of the year. Himmesh Reshammiya set the balls rolling with his Hookah Bar.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for Dagabaaz Re (Dabangg 2)

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan encompassed his level of supremacy with the ultimate romantic saga of all, Dagabaaz Re from the Dabangg 2 album. Innocently cute and cutely adorable, this song was more than an auditory treat to the ears!

After shattering many a records at the domestic box office, Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2 has overtaken Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore at the Koimoi Top 10 2012 chart. Dabangg 2, with 139.85 Crores in its kitty, has taken the No. 2 spot in the 2012 list.

The No 1 position is still held by Ek Tha Tiger with a mammoth 198 Crores Collection. Salman, now has to compete with his own movie and either way the winner will be Salman Khan himself. We predict that Dabangg 2 will make a minimum business of 160 Crores in India.

Hero and heroines meet in a mustard field, they miss a few trains and they fall in love, the age old formulaic romanticism in Bollywood films is today just a passé! With more and more advancement in every field, Bollywood is evolving too. Today an actor and an actress share some very good on screen equations only to be able to create that audience connect which helps them and their film thrive through most hurdles.

With some high octane action packed films to some masala potboilers and an out and out romantic drama, 2012 stands as a testimony to some of the beautiful gems when it came to Bollywood’s best on screen couples who scorched the B-town arena with some oh-so-lovely moments and some cute lovey-dovey romantic sequences.

Swaying away from the clichéd cupid struck couples, we present to you the best couples of 2012, who not only set the eyeballs rolling but were sensuous enough to infuse in blossoming love between their characters.

Saif Ali Khan – Kareena Kapoor (Agent Vinod)

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in a still from Agent Vinod Movie

A real life couple jumped into reel, yet another time playing the lead cast in Saif Ali Khan’s productional venture Agent Vinod. The film tanked at the box office without much of a trace but the couple emerged victorious in setting out as perfect emblems of love and romance to the new generation. Though the Bond meets Bourne espionage thriller lacked a coherent script and slickness in treatment, the film definitely showed how the two in-love lovebirds swayed to each other’s tunes. And one can never forget the Raabta number; so melodious and oh-so-romantic!

Ayushmann Khurrana – Yami Gautam (Vicky Donor)

Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam in a still from Vicky Donor Movie

The most refreshing pair on the block this year undoubtedly would be when the Punjabi meets the Bong charm in one of the biggest successes of the year, Vicky Donor! Exuberating freshness and vivacity in all the frames, Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam were so much in love and their brewing romance took the film to new heights. For more, there was Paani da to suffice!

Arjun Kapoor – Parineeti Chopra (Ishaqzaade)

Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra in a still from Ishaqzaade Movie

He was hot and she was feisty and when they met, there were firecrackers all around! A dynamite pair of sorts, these young Ishaqzaade‘s reciprocated love like no other. With a beautiful and admirable ending to the film that stands as a sign of togetherness and true love the couple was a perfect match! While Arjun Kapoor woo-ed the audience with his dimpled flamboyance, Parineeti Chopra’s feisty yet naughty nonchalance served more than a compliment to her love-zaada!

Akshay Kumar – Sonakshi Sinha (Rowdy Rathore)

Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in a still from Rowdy Rathore Movie

When our desi Khiladi turned Rowdy Rathore Akshay Kumar fell for Sonakshi Sinha’s Chikni kamar, what resulted was in an epic love story. Fulltoo South Indian ishtyle! Though major chunks of the film dealt with Akki in grueling action sequences with Sona getting very little scope to deliver, they had the perfect fusion of love, spunk and notoriousness in their love. Courtesy, the couple of songs that featured both doing some crazily mad maneuvers!

Ranbir Kapoor – Priyanka Chopra (Barfi!)

Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra in a still from Barfi! Movie

A pair whose chemistry failed to entice the masses in their last venture together must have been apprehensive about their on screen pairing while signing this film. But love got a new definition and chemistry got a new dimension when the physically disabled Barfi! fell in love with the autistic Jhilmil. What followed was an array of events but Anurag Basu’s script helped Jhilmil and Barfi! stand out as characters and make its way en route to the Bollywood Hall of Fame!

Salman Khan – Katrina Kaif (Ek Tha Tiger)

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in a still from Ek Tha Tiger Movie

Once upon a time, they were a ‘rumoured’ couple and now they are ‘just friends’. But the chemistry they shared in Ek Tha Tiger set the screens ablaze and the money ticking at the box office! Be it the groovy Mashallah number or the lovable Saiyaara melody, and obviously the die-to-watch-for action sequences, Katrina Kaif matched steps with Salman Khan in everything he did! Our very own demigod and her queen made hearts skip a beat with the love and passion flaming through their gleaming eyes.

Ajay Devgn – Sonakshi Sinha (Son Of Sardaar)

Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha in a still from Son Of Sardaar Movie

A hilariously funny act and an even more hilarious dialogue delivery made Son Of Sardaar almost a painful enjoyable comedy, but what infused life into the film was the, again, hilarious cupid struck couple Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha. The age old formula was twisted and love at first sight worked wonders as Ajay and Sonakshi made heads spin and stand out as a couple, in a film that was low on content, except an enviable comic caper act by Juhi Chawla!

Shah Rukh Khan – Katrina Kaif (Jab Tak Hai Jaan)

Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in a still from Jab Tak Hai Jaan Movie

He is 47. She is 28. But their nineteen year age difference was shut when passion and compassion took over the two actors, on a ride for an unforgettable journey in search of love. Yash Chopra’s last romantic drama was classic yet contemporary but the chemistry that the lead pair Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif shared throughout turned it into a masterpiece. It was just one look in the eyes and we were all floored. When they grooved and gyrated to the peppy Ishq Shava, we watched with mouths wide open and the intimate scenes including the famous SRK kissing scenes were a lot more to deliver! Love is forever, love remains Jab Tak Hai Jaan!

Salman Khan – Sonakshi Sinha (Dabangg 2)

Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in a still from Dabangg 2

An on screen couple that had ignited a lot of fire in the first edition of Dabangg is back with an even more interesting Dabangg 2. With Sonakshi Sinha getting lot more than mouthing a single dialogue and just standing as a show piece this time, family man Chulbul Pandey’s love for his ladylove Rajjo is palpably visible in the sweet ‘Cooker ki seeti’ dialogue promo and in the bike ride sequence of Saanson Ne. With the film releasing in a day, Salman and Sonakshi are all set to create thunderstorms with their portrayal of chemistry in B Town! We so agree!

Vote For Your Favourite Action Movie Of 2012 Right Here

High-octane, adrenaline pumping and thunderous, Hindi films are over loaded with some grueling stunts and action sequences today. Gone are the times when everyone used a body double for even the meanest action sequence, today the actors of the new generation and the ones who are ruling the roster since the last two decades, all gear up to pack in a lot of punches with their monumental death defying that stunts.

What results into is a series of masaledaar and at times, slick action frames blend into a typical pot boiler that keeps us glued to the edge of our seats and how!

Here is the list for the best Action Films for 2012:

Agneepath

Sanjay Dutt and Hrithik Roshan in a still from Agneepath Movie

Taking a cue from the 1990 classic, Karan Johar took off the grand route to celebrate his father’s film like never before with Agneepath. Kancha Cheena here was a lot more menacing, dangerous and deadly and the action sequences devised by Abbas Ali Moghul kept the pace of the film running just appropriate. The climax scene, the Fight to Finish between Hrithik’s Vijay Dinanath Chauhan and Sanju Baba’s gory Kancha Cheena was top notch but it was the exciting battle between Vijay and Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor) that we pick!

Agent Vinod

Saif Ali Khan in a still from Agent Vinod Movie

A slick, stylish romcom agent thriller, made on the lines of Bond and Bourne was just an Indianised version of the tow, but one lacking a good plot. While Saif made everyone go itchy with the 242 suspense, it was only Peter Heins action packed stunts, bike ride, car chases and multiple fight sequences that made Agent Vinod look the way it aimed to be. Nothing too good about this movie, the action was a lot more stylish, excruciating and deft!

Rowdy Rathore

Akshay Kumar in a still from Rowdy Rathore Movie

Typical Southern masala, Prabhu Deva’s Rowdy Rathore, like all his other flicks was a chuckle of too many bloody action scenes and bland emotions. But Mahinder Verma’s raw action gifted Akshay Kumar with a fresh new slice of Life, just what Wanted did to Salman Khan. Some totally impossible but energetic and laborious hot shots stamped on the rowdiness quotient of the film, thereby sailing the film through with an easy breezy 130 crore knock!

Ek Tha Tiger

Salman Khan in a still from Ek Tha Tiger Movie

While everyone went gaga over Salman’s return to films almost after a year, one thing that people failed to appreciate was that Ek Tha Tiger was less a Salman film, and more a Conrad Palmisano film. The film, with a first-hand coherent plot (thanks to Kabir Khan) was again a love story of an agent, but more than romance, Ek Tha Tiger was overloaded with some polished and uber cool stunts with Katrina Kaif defining her status as Bollywood’s number 1 action heroine, doing some super stunts with convinced ease and Salman, as usual rocked the floor, and made his through a war of ceetees! What an advantage of having a Hollywood action expert, that too, one straight out of Sylvester Stallone’s books, who made the Bourne series look so snappy!

Son Of Sardaar

Ajay Devgn in a still from Son Of Sardaar Movie

Ajay Devgn put his action genes to work as he himself took over the reins as the action co-coordinator for his production venture, just the way his father, ace action director Viru Devgan did. Planning the actions, just the way the character of Jassi Randhawa needed, putting in dollops of humour in this madcap saga of comical vendetta. Be it the achaar sequence, or the animated versions of the epic battle, it was the stupidly infectious yet laughable action scenes that added to the film’s almost deadpan humour. Vengeance seriously was funny, courtesy a certain Devgn superstar!

Dabangg 2

Salman Khan in a still from Dabangg 2 Movie

The heavyweight of the lot, the ultimate biggie that set tongues wagging for more this Christmas, Salman’s Dabangg 2 did a lot of breakage to ultimately break open some box office records, yet again. Playing the adorable yet fierce cop Chulbul Pandey, Salman broke some laws and few more jaws amidst a lot of crank calls, creating immediate audience frenzy. Anal Arasu designed the action which gave in an adrenaline rush, putting in the perfect concoction of masala with power! Be it the opening rescue scene or the shirtless, err effortless climax sequence, Sal-man was the new Indian superhero born!

A film’s success usually depends on three of the most vital ingredients that are pillars of film making. A good script, some terrific performances and few excellent soundtracks are enough to provide the necessary kick start to any film today.

With 2012 being a testimony to some groovy, peppy, high octane numbers on one hand, and some soothing melodious romantic tracks on the other, we at Koimoi list down this year’s ten of the best music albums that set all dance floors on fire and pepped up each happening party in the town and amplified the footfall of discotheques and the regular bistro-bars!

Off to some Sa-re-ga-ma-pa-dha-ni-sa now:

Agneepath

Agneepath Movie Poster Wallpaper

An excellent album that was not just high on tempo with a raunchy Chikni Chameli but also had the highly urbane Gun Gun Guna but it was the soulful tearjerker Abhi Mujh Mein Baaki by Sonu Nigam that left our lachrymal glands wanting for tissue papers and our hearts feeling all empty! Ajay-Atul had the perfect mix of all emotions and rocked the music arena with their scintillating album.

Vicky Donor

Vicky Donor Movie Poster

A film that really stood out, not just for its unconventional theme and content but also because of the superlative soundtracks that followed bay. Vicky Donor saw an array of composers in Abhishek-Akshay, Donn-Bann, Rochak Kohli but it was the versatile Ayushmann Khurrana who left everyone spellbound with a mesmerizing Paani Da Rang. Mar Jaiya and Rum Rum Whisky were the bonus cherries that we all savored.

Rowdy Rathore

Rowdy Rathore Movie Poster

The reigning rulers of the Music territory today, Sajid Wajid set all tongues waging for more with a rural and rustic Aa Re Pritam Pyare that not just made the naughty thumkas a trend but also redefined boisterousness. Chinta Ta Ta grew onto you but Chikni Kamar was a little bland! Nevertheless, Rowdy Rathore was much better than being rowdy on the music front!

Cocktail

Cocktail Movie Poster Wallpaper

Pritam spell magic with an awesome album in the form of Cocktail which had an amalgamation of everything. From the groovy Second Hand Jawaani to the sharp Main Sharaabi number and the somber Daaru Desi number, Cocktail the album was a product of Pritam’s creative genius. How can we forget Tum hi Ho Bandhu which became the Friendship anthem for all?

Barfi!

Barfi! Movie Poster

After weaving his magic wand round with Cocktail, Pritam, the master player created a gem of an album with Anurag Basu’s Barfi!. Soulful, melodious and candilyciously sweet, Barfi! had no item numbers to hail through but the beautiful renditions in the form of Ala Barfi, and Phir Le Aaya Dil were heart warming. And selecting this in the top 10 list was inevitable, almost! Main Kya Karu, Dil yeh mera bas main nahi! Get the cue, dahling?

Gangs Of Wasseypur 1

Gangs Of Wasseypur Movie Poster Wallpaper

Quirky and loaded with underlined sexuality, Gangs Of Wasseypur had the nation ablaze with an effective and a little lovingly-perverted number in I am A Hunter but it was O Womaniya that broke all barriers and merged boundaries! Piyush Mishra took hold of the banter but newbie Sneha Khanwalkar did a stellar job of putting forward the album after her unconventional successes in LSD and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye!

Student Of The Year

Student Of The Year Movie Poster Wallpaper

The uber cool, highly chic and most stylish film of the year was sky high on the music quotient too, let aside fashion maneuvers! Rendering the world of Vele-s with a party mixer or nicknaming debutante Sid Kukkad Malhotra, Vishal-Shekhar prove their excellence by sticking to their forte. It was definitely the rehashed and revamped Nazia Hassan number Disco Deewane that tried taking away all the cake, but the fusion Radha track gave stiff competition to its own teammate. We must admit!

Son Of Sardaar

Son Of Sardaar Movie Poster Wallpaper

Nothing short of a sardaar-d though content wise, this Ajay Devgn comedy had just two things going right: the bubbly Juhi Chawla and the catchy and racy dance numbers. The Raja Rani track was high on humour and packed in some hilarious laughs, while the Po Po beats got the nation trying the cheeky step! Aha! Himmesh again, no wonder why! Fitting the mad comic caper bill with perfection, this album was definitely a nice timeout.

Khiladi 786

Khiladi 786 Movie Poster

A multi faceted personality once again was at the fore front with some of the best renditions this year that grabbed eyeballs and created a stir almost immediately. Himmesh Reshammiya, the composer belted out some amazing spicy numbers with Balma, O Baawariya, Khiladi Bhaiya and the popular Hookah Bar rocking music charts worldwide! Some people should seriously stick to what they do best! Wink!

Dabangg 2

Dabangg 2 Movie Poster Wallpaper

While the year started with a bang, one wondered how Salman’s Dabangg 2 would fare on the home ground, but Sajid Wajid stored their best for the last, we feel! Creating an almost replica of the precursor and matching upto the expectations was not just difficult but next to impossible. The music composer duo made everything possible with a delicious album that had everything: a touch-your-heart romantic Dagabaaz Re and Saanson Ne, a high on tempo Pandeyji Seeti Maare, a powerful Dabangg Reloaded and the orgasmic-to-the-ears Fevicol Se.

It has certainly been a good year for ‘Khiladi Bhaiyya’ Akshay Kumar who is riding high on success with back to back hits at the box office. With his latest Khiladi instalment opening to a good response at the box office, Khiladi Kumar has broken into the 400 crore mark in a calendar year. The year started well for Akshay Kumar with Housefull2, Rowdy Rathore and OMG: Oh My God! raking in moolah at the box office.

The big screen had to wait for 12 long years to see Akshay Kumar put on his Khiladi shoes with Khiladi 786. Akshay Kumar who burst into the lime light with Khiladi has come a long way. Audiences and critics’ alike have given thumbs up for the movie and it is running quite successfully in single screen theatres and doing reasonably well in multiplexes. It is no surprise that it is the same franchise which takes him into the 400 crore mark.

Akshay has surely ended the year on a high note and his fans are eagerly waiting to watch Khiladi Kumar in his upcoming films!
