The movie traces the story of a middle class uprising against India’s corrupt diktats. The Gandhian quote will serve as a prologue to the the film.

According to reliable sources, “Satyagraha” as a concept is based on Mahatma Gandhi and Prakashji is planning to start the film with a quote from Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography “My Experiments With Truth.”

Having said this, the buzz is that Prakash Jha is going to request film’s lead actor Amitabh Bachchan to do the voice over of it on screen. Bachchan’s character is fashioned on the demeanor of social activist Anna Hazare who single handedly evoked a war against corruption in India.

Miss Malik, who was last seen in Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, said, “I would like a bit of Shah Rukh Khan, a bit of Salman Khan and a bit of Aamir Khan. I would go with Aamir for his acting, Shah Rukh for his romance and Salman’s Dabangg style.”

Further talking about Nawaab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan, Veena attributed Saif’s sense of style to his being a royal. Says Veena, “I love his sense of style. It’s quite natural, he is a nawab… If a nawab doesn’t know how to dress, then who will? He is a very stylish guy and in that way I think Kareena Kapoor is lucky.”

 Zindagi 50-50, scheduled for a May 24 release, will see Malik in the role of a sex worker opposite actors Rajan Verma, Rajpal Yadav and Riya Sen. The actress is also working in Haroon Rashid’s The City That Never Sleeps.

The film that was mainly a romantic comedy was a hit for the unbeatable chemistry of John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan who posed as gay lovers in the film. Though cheekily clichéd and offensive depicting homosexual relationships stereotypically, the film was a hit and earned a total domestic collection of 45 crores approximately.

After tasting a much heightened success at production with two money spinning ventures, he decided to score up for script and its honesty. Backing a controversial and bold film Kurbaan, centered around Islamic fundamentalism and global terrorism, Karan Johar focused mainly on delivering a powerful story rather than counting his bills. The film could not manage a decent box office collection and rested its nett earnings at 24 crores at the domestic box office.

It was hard to deter Johar’s faith on scripts especially on ones his conviction laid. Despite not being able to deliver a hit from the Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Kurbaan, Karan still backed debutant director Ayan Mukherji’s heartwarming film Wake Up Sid starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor. The film traces the coming of age of its protagonist’s lackadaisical nature that must learn the value of responsibility. The film went on to become a hit with a total domestic collection of 28.50 crores.

Karan gambled a large part of his money on his dream venture My Name is Khan. Starring his favorite actors Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, the film was set on the backdrop of victimization of Muslims following 9/11 scenario. The film an all-in-all SRK was lauded by critics as a perseverant effort at showcasing the issue without a judgmental approach.

Dharma Productions followed up the success of Agneepath with their high school romance film, Student of the Year launching three new faces in Bollywood – Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. The film was a typical slice from trademark KJo style of ornate film sets set up in posh locations. The film went on to become a super hit by earning over 70 crores at the domestic box office despite the presence of new stars in lead roles.

Though a couple of his co-productions had doomed concepts like Kaal with Red Chillies and I Hate Luv Storys with UTV, yet there is one memorable co-production out of Dharma that deserves a special mention. Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan starrer Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu was a beautiful concept that stays true-to-the-term modern age love story.

While Bombay Talkies is getting Karan Johar brilliant reviews for making a bold short film, quite unlikely his style and sensibility of cinema, it quite brought out the man’s honest affinity towards building earnest films. With Gippi working on the same lines delving into a story of an adolescent girl dealing with peer pressure, looking towards beauty and popularity, it is a realistic film from KJo’s brand that will definitely earn back its investment. However, it entirely depends on the film’s essence whether it will earn any beyond. Karan Johar’s stamp on the film will attract its initial audiences but the eventual pull will be based on a positive word of the mouth which depends on the film’s intrinsic value.

The film’s shooting that began in Bangalore, saw the stars Imran and Kareena filming it together. Kareena’s attire was evidently Indian being styled by her favorite designer Manish Malhotra. Malhotra, who also designed her look in Jab We Met and Bodyguard, has given her look refined earthiness.

A large part of the film is set in a rural backdrop, it is dazzling chemistry of its lead stars that has a captivating tinge to it.

Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif

According to a leading daily, Sanjay is all set to revive the project and is looking out for both Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif for the roles of Mastani and Kashibai respectively. Padukone, is the leading lady in Bhansali’s upcoming film Ram Leela opposite supposedly beau Ranveer Singh. Ram Leela is scheduled for October 2013 release, following which Sanjay plans to begin the pre-production work of Bajirao Mastani. The film is expected to go on floors by April 2014.

Though there are antithetical reports over the film’s leading man, according to our sources, Sanjay is considering both Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor for the role of Bajirao. Salman has been on a low in the last few weeks, given his court dates for the 2002 hit and run case and his check up in U.S. However, the prime most reason why there are second thoughts over him is because of the overpowering haunting ghost of the Sanjay Dutt verdict, with something similar looming large on Salman as well.

In case Ranbir achieves an edge over Salman, the situation of the film will be replicable of the 1981 stint Silsila. With his ex-girlfriend Deepika and alleged current girlfriend Katrina working along with him in the same celluloid frame, this will undoubtedly rake excessive interest from the audiences.

While it will be a smart move on the part of Bhansali and the actors to team up together for the film and cash in on their existing not so harmonious relationship, most trade analysts agree that this will result in a greater doom for Bhansali’s dream venture! On 21st April, after finishing his part in the film, Arjun Rampal tweeted, “Just wrapped filming for #satyagrah have had a blast, thank you to the whole unit who have worked so very hard and of course Prakash. Love”

With a post Independence day release, reeking of nationalistic theme, the film is produced by UTV Motion Pictures and is slotted for a 23rd August release this year. A remake of K.V Anand’s Tamil film Ko,the film was rumored to release on the eve of 15th August.

Being an ensemble of four distinctly variant short films, Bombay Talkies will also run a compilation song which will bring on the silver screen together all notable stars of today’s times. Paying a perfect ode to Bollywood, Bombay Talkies is one of the most anticipated films this year that is a celebration of cinematic vision.

Keeping aside personal differences and needless catfights Bollywood stars have joined hands to appear together in the film’s common song! Surprisingly Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who have tremendous ego clashes, will shoot together for the song! Also actresses Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor who have previously slashed each other on the couch of Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee with Karan, are attempting to reconcile through this.

While a few actors are taking the professional road to mend differences for a greater glorious cause, Actor Salman Khan who too was approached for the song declined it mentioning date issues. While to rubbish his reasons would be wrong, as the actor indeed has been very busy between shooting for Mental, his impending check up and court dates, many insiders suggest he refused to share screen with Shah Rukh Khan. Their hugely publicized spat has lingered ever since and Salman had obvious issues with sharing his screen space with Shah Rukh Khan. Our source informed us, “A plan is being auctioned right now for a screening in South Africa for Satyagraha because of its inherent Mahatma Gandhi connection. It is being finalized which cast members will be travelling for the screening.”

Also present at the awards function were actors Sridevi and Farhan Akhtar.  While everyone at international film circuit lauded Sridevi as the Indian Meryl Streep, she looked extremely contended with earning the awards for the Entertainer of Year, with her comeback film English Vinglish. Sridevi who took a two decade break after her marriage to producer Boney Kapoor, came alive on screen last year as the married middle aged woman trying to find her ground. Sridevi looked glamorous in her turquoise-mustard colored blended saree, teamed with delicate diamond neckpiece and earrings. Actress Kareena Kapoor made a flattering statement that Sridevi was the reason why she diverted towards acting.

Farhan Akhtar reclaimed back his Rock star position by singing songs from his earlier film Rock On. Dressed in black shirt, teamed with steel grey waistcoat and black tie, he looked his handsome best. He also recited a poem he had written for Nirbhaya, the brave heart who succumbed to injuries after sustaining a horrific gang rape on her in Delhi in December last year.

The function was the 6^th edition of NDTV Indian of the Year. It was an important and celebratory occasion for NDTV as it successfully completed its Silver Jubilee. Fostering the concept of Brand India, Brand Bollywood has a quintessential role in fabricating it. Also present at the event were Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, Delhi CM Sheila Dixit, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah and Pam Chopra, late directorial legend Yash Chopra’s wife.

Pam Chopra was present to posthumously receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for her late husband Yash Chopra, who passed away in October last year.

During casting of the movie Milan Talkies, Imran was heard telling the director about how being cast opposite Priyanka Chopra will hamper his ‘image’. Zoom reporters found out that Imran felt Piggy Chops will look way older to him on screen. Now what’s surprising is that Imran has worked with older actresses like Kareena Kapoor in the past but is now focusing more on his image than the script!

Could it be that Imran feels being overshadowed by an established actor like Priyanka Chopra will dampen his presence in the movie? Maybe Imran feels that its time he took the plunge and come out of the shadows of senior actors. Well we do hope that Imran is doing the right thing! Watch this space for more updates.

“The leading lady of the film is not yet finalised. So far it is only Hrithik Roshan who has been finalised. I can’t talk much about whether Kareena is in the film as long as Karan (Johar) doesn’t make an official announcement,” said Karan Malhotra.

Nevertheless, Karan says he has his “wish list ready”. “My fingers are crossed and I hope the best actress, who fits the bill, becomes a part of the film,” he added.

Shuddhi film will be shot in Mumbai and Uttarakhand. The film will go on floors in November by the end of this year and will be widely shot in Mumbai and Uttarakhand. It is slated for release in 2014.

Kareena was present yesterday on the opening day of FICCI FRAMES 2013. She was there to light the ceremonial lamp for the three-day event.

When asked about her post marriage life, this is what Bebo had to say, “If a girl loves someone or gets married, it doesn’t mean that people will not love her or her character on-screen. Films and marriage are two different aspects and we should not try and club them. Anyways, falling in love or getting married is not a crime. And I think people are talking about it more now. Earlier also, be it Waheedaji or Sharmilaji, they were all married and they all acted in films like Daag, Amar Prem and Guide. It has been happening ever since.”

Kareena is currently shooting for Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha, where she will be playing a journalist.
