Sunny Leone In Jism 2 Movie Stills

As I think of the pathetic 132 minutes that I spent yawning, fidgeting, munching popcorn and paying occasional visits to the restroom, here’s what I make of the 10 main reasons why Jism 2 didn’t work:

1) Sunny Leone! The reason why people went to watch Jism 2 is the reason why the film falls flat on its face. Her sizzling hot photos and videos may have adorned your desktops and laptops in your ‘private times’, but in Jism 2, she is totally ‘thanda’! Every inch of her frame looks so very plastic that she could even give tough competition to many of our new B-town stars.

2) As far as I remember, director Pooja Bhatt had told in an interview that she has made her heroes too strip in the film. (Now don’t get excited as you will be highly disappointed!) If her idea of male-stripping is that of a lungi-clad Randeep Hooda massaging Madame Leone’s bare back, then I must say she needs to do some thorough research on the word ‘stripping’! Reason enough for the film to stride towards failure!

3) Having talked about two of the leads in the film, how could the third one be left behind? Arunoday Singh undoes all that he had done in his last film ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’. Not a single expression on his face for even a moment in the film! Whether he is making out with the porn star, or stealing data from Mr. Hooda’s laptop, or even killing his Godfather, the muscles on his face don’t budge an inch from their positions. Is that how you act Mr. Singh?

4) The storyline, if at all there is any! Even till now, I failed to understand why on earth an Intelligence Bureau officer would make out with a porn star and then hire her as a secret agent on a mission to obtain some data from a terrorist?? If Madam Bhatt could please explain it to me, I would really be enlightened!

5) The pathetic dialogues forcefully mouthed by the actors are another reason which makes the audience go ‘bwaahhhh’ while watching the film. Samples: ‘Ek terrorist ko maarna punya ka kaam hota hai’, ‘Jo aadmi sochta hai ki woh kal khush hoga, who kabhi khush nahin hota.’ I could go on and on but I choose to forget those terrorizing lines!

6) Old habits die hard. Watch the film and you will realize why I am saying this. Panting, panting and more panting! This is what our leading lady keeps doing through the entire length of the film. No matter she is crying, staring, talking, or making love to her partners, Sunny Leone just takes deep breaths in and out. Someone please tell her there are better things to do in front of the camera!

7) Weird characterization of the actors in the film makes me wonder if Pooja Bhatt was attempting to make an erotic thriller or a comedy film. While Randeep’s Kabir listens to songs by Mukesh, Sunny’s Izna runs to and fro between her two lovers! And Arunoday’s Aayan cries more than he drinks, and pleases himself by panning a pencil torch over Izna’s body while she is asleep. Whatever all that was supposed to mean!

8) The climax of the film confirms why Jism 2 didn’t work at the box office. Aayan gives Izna those cute little homoeopathic medicine bottles to poison Kabir’s coffee, and our Izna thinks that Kabir is a fool who will happily gulp the coffee?? As if he won’t find out what she had been doing all along? Give us a break folks!

9) The overall pace of the film is too slow, and the script is not well-bound. As can be explained, if your shoe laces are not tied properly, you are bound to trip and fall on your face. This is exactly what happens to the film as well. If only Beti Bhatt could weave the story properly, there could have been some saving moments for the film and us too! But alas! (Sigh!)

10) The music of the film and the costumes of Sunny Leone adds petrol to the fire in which Jism 2 burns. Apart from Maula, the other songs fail to strike a chord. And so does the background music. Unlike most other Bhatt films, which generally score well for their music, Jism 2 fails even in this area! Poor guys!

Hunt for your favorite buys in the ongoing sale season and give this film a miss. Or better still, if you have been deprived of sleep for quite some time, then you are most welcome to go and catch Jism 2 in your nearest theatre!

Watch or Not: Watch it for Sunny Leone’s much-hyped debut in Bollywood.

Is Jism 2 paisa vasool for watching Sunny Leone? Yes.

That’s probably the only question you need to ask yourself before watching Jism 2 because you definitely aren’t going for the aesthetics (which are good in the film).

Don’t be surprised, Jism 2 does have a plot, albeit a flaky one. Izna (Sunny Leone) is a porn star who gets recruited by Intelligence Agency officer Ayaan (Arunoday Singh).  Ayaan’s boss (Arif Zakaria) explains that Izna’s mission is to get close to rogue officer Kabir (Randeep Hooda), who was once Izna’s boyfriend.

The officers claim that Kabir once worked with them, went bonkers, decided to turn messiah and is bumping off other officers and ministers in his quest to clean the world. Now they don’t want to just kill Kabir and end the whole mess, they want to find some crucial data that he stores in his laptop. And for this they need Izna to waltz back into his life.

Izna decides to help the Agency and moves next door to Kabir in Sri Lanka, with Ayaan pretending to be her fiancé. At first Kabir refuses to recognize her, but he later gives in with all his Jism. Although he suspects Izna, Kabir begs her to marry him. Partly because her plan of getting the information from him fails and partly because she still loves Kabir, Izna agrees.

The rest of the film is actually just an excuse to watch Izna’s skin show, so don’t really worry about Kabir-Izna-Ayaan.

Jism 2 Review: Script Analysis

Mahesh Bhatt just keeps the basic ingredients to make a potboiler. Not much of the script or story make sense, but they’re just scenes for letting Sunny Leone do what she does best. The holes in his story and script would make a sieve blush.

An “Intelligence Agency” hires a porn star to do their work? Not a hacker, not a sniper, nor a mercenary; a porn star. If they were so bent on killing him, why did they agree to pay Izna Rs. 10 crore to do the job? Kabir has a friend/guard who protects him all the time. But when Ayaan sneaks into his house and hijacks his laptop, his guard is conveniently missing. And obviously, the Sri Lankan government isn’t bothered when Kabir guns down half a dozen people there. And that’s probably just down the initial 20 minutes.

The plot turns downright stupid at some places like when Ayaan’s boss yells at his heartbroken subordinate, “Agar mujhe cancer hotey huey main ye kar sakta hu, to tum kyu nahi?!” That’s 2 seconds after this cancer-patient boss is thrusting a syringe down his arm. What has that got to do with the plot? Nothing. Sunny smooches Randeep a few moments later, so you can forget about it. The dialogues are alright. There’s an oil-massage scene, one near a pool, a semi-strip etc.; these should keep the male audiences happy.

Jism 2 Review: Star Performances

Sunny Leone can barely act. Most of her scenes involve heaving to accentuate her ample bosoms: either pining/worrying for Kabir or in some erotic scene. The tough-officer-in-love does not suit Arunoday Singh and he ends up with unintentionally funny expressions on his face in the emotional scenes. Randeep Hooda is quite good as Kabir, but he mouths too many dialogues through grit-teeth. Arif Zakaria is a joke as Arunoday’s superior.

Jism 2 Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects

Pooja Bhatt has done a very good job as the director (even with this hackneyed plot). The movie looks good and doesn’t disappoint those who’ve come to watch Sunny. Vicky Goswami, Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Mithun Sharmav’s music is excellent. Maula and Yeh Jism songs stand out. Editing by Devendra Murdeshwar is alright. Nigam Bomzan’s cinematography is beautiful!

Jism 2 Review: The Last Word

Sunny Leone shows off her sexy body and there’s some real good music while she does that. Don’t even bother trying to make sense of the film.

For an actor who has shown his acting capabilities right from the days to ‘Sikander’ to ‘Aisha’ and then ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’, he is finding his way up in Bollywood. However one wonders if ‘Jism 2‘ may typecast him.

“Well, I don’t think so”, says Arunoday in a confident tone, “I don’t think I can be easily typecast. You have seen me doing different roles right from the days of ‘Sikander’ to ‘Yeh Saali Zindagi’; did you find any similarities? Filmmakers have given me different options and I have done my best to the pick the ones which haven’t been similar to my past work. In fact tomorrow if someone offers me the role of a villain and I like it then I would definitely pick it up. So to answer your question, no I don’t thing ‘Jism 2′ would end up slotting me in erotic roles.”

From the commercial perspective though one can see that ‘Jism 2‘ is indeed his most commercial film till date, what with the Pooja Bhatt directed affair marketing and promoting it quite well.

“Well, as far as the commercial quotient is concerned, Pooja would be the best person to answer that since ‘Jism 2‘ is her baby”, smiles Arunoday, “Clichéd as it may sound but I did the film as it suited my taste and was also very challenging for me. Moreover, I knew for sure that this is one film that many would come to watch. Which actor won’t want that? I also trusted the same and here I am looking forward to how the film finds its audience in days to come.”

In an exclusive interview for PETA, Leone says, “I believe in not buying – and adopting. And it’s because there’s so many dogs out there that need a home, that were left on the streets. They just need that love, and if you can rescue an animal, then that’s one of the greatest gifts you can give.” She further explains, “I believe that every single dog should be spayed and neutered. You don’t want to continue the cycle of homeless dogs or cats. And spaying and neutering also keeps them healthy. It prevents them from having different diseases that they can get if they are not.”

In India, tens of millions of homeless cats and dogs struggle to survive on the streets. Many of them go hungry, are injured or killed, are hit by vehicles or are abused by cruel people. Countless others are kept in animal shelters because there aren’t enough good homes for them. Every time a cat or a dog has a litter, it means fewer homes for the cats and dogs who are languishing in animal shelters or roaming the streets. The answer is simple: always have your cat or dog sterilised. PETA also encourages all prospective cat and dog guardians always to adopt from an animal shelter or take in a homeless animal from the streets and never to buy from a breeder or a pet shop – both of which only add to the problem.

Leone, who shares her home in Los Angeles with two rescued dogs, has also signed on to star in the sequel to the horror-thriller film Ragini MMS, one of the most-talked-about sleeper hits of 2011.

Jism 2 has donated its wardrobe, including sexy lingerie worn by Leone in the film, to PETA for auction. The auction will start from 3^rdAugust 2012

“Though Bhatts have been spinning tales around Sunny being in their mind for the ‘Jism’ franchise for the last 10 years, the fact remains that ‘Jism 2‘ was actually conceived keeping her in mind. There was no Bipasha Basu or Mallika Sherawat who was even considered for the role. Reason being that the character Sunny plays in the film is that of a pornstar and since none of the Indian actresses, especially the established ones, could have been expected to wilfully step into the role, it was a given that Sunny got the coveted part”, informs our source.

Of course Sunny was thrilled to know that there was a film being made with a central character being a pornstar and was more than glad to step in. While the entire episode around her entry into the film through ‘Big Boss’ did lead many to wonder if it was all staged, the fact remains that at the end of it all this proved to be a good platform for her real life profession to be brought in front of the public.

Though the makers are not yet commenting on ‘Jism 2‘ being based on Sunny’s life, they do confirm that she is indeed playing a pornstar in the film who uses her body to make money and get ahead in life.

“See, Bipasha was of course fantastic in ‘Jism’ and has this strong sexual awareness. However for ‘Jism 2′ we needed someone who was a part of the adult business. While actresses were obviously out of the question, fortunately or unfortunately we don’t have any established pornstar from India. We felt that Sunny was just the right fit since she is the kind of woman we had in mind for the film”, says Pooja Bhatt.

While the film tells the take of a pornstar and an assassin, we would be interested to know if Sunny indeed had an encounter with any such killer in real life as well.

Where did the curves go? Sunny Leone posted a photo of herself on Twitter.com saying, “hehe just shot this picture and its one of the looks for @jism2 . hope i dont get in trouble for showing you this to you!! hehhe”.

Later producer Mahesh Bhatt also tweeted the above picture of Sunny with the words, “On the eve of the beginning of #Jism2, a special pic from our photo shoot! Eat your heart out folks! ; )”

The Indo-Canadian porn star has started shooting for director Pooja Bhatt’s Jism 2 co-starring Randeep Hooda and Arunoday Singh. Last seen on the small screen on the reality show Bigg Boss, Sunny seems to have shed her curves for her big debut in Bollywood.

And considering the eye-popping first look poster of the movie (which did not have Sunny on it), Sunny’s look seems quite tame. We’re waiting for the Bhatts to heat it up already!
