What can be disastrous for the distributors is the fact that the box office was worse affected in regions where Jism 2 had taken a good start on Friday. Consider CI, CP and Rajasthan and you will realize that the movie witnesses a drop of over 30-40% on it’s very second day. This is indeed astounding as the box office collections generally increase on weekends.

As per claims the movie was made out of a budget of 6-7 Crores. Add to it another 4 Crores on publicity. The Bhatt’s it seems have nothing to lose in this game. However, the distributors which bought the movies for humongous amounts of money will suffer the most in this case. There is no reason to believe that Jism 2 will recover on Sunday. The movie it seems will end up a disaster at the Indian box office.

However, the initial hype will be over now and bad reviews and negative word of mouth and social media trends will have a disastrous effect on the box office journey of the film. The opening collections have been pretty decent but if it doesn’t manage to gross some better numbers in the weekend, the movie might end up being a disaster for the distributors. The only thing which might help Jism 2 as of now is the fact that it was the single big release this Friday.

The movie is one of the most highly anticipated ones this year. Huge publicity including twitter, Facebook and YouTube campaigns have created a hype of sorts.

From the looks of it the movie it seems will make 5.50 Crores nett on Day 1 at the Indian box office. This isn’t a very big number but a pretty decent number for an ‘A’ rated film in India. The 1st weekend will be crucial for predicting the fate of the film at the box office.

Is Jism 2 paisa vasool for watching Sunny Leone? Yes.

That’s probably the only question you need to ask yourself before watching Jism 2 because you definitely aren’t going for the aesthetics (which are good in the film).

Don’t be surprised, Jism 2 does have a plot, albeit a flaky one. Izna (Sunny Leone) is a porn star who gets recruited by Intelligence Agency officer Ayaan (Arunoday Singh).  Ayaan’s boss (Arif Zakaria) explains that Izna’s mission is to get close to rogue officer Kabir (Randeep Hooda), who was once Izna’s boyfriend.

The officers claim that Kabir once worked with them, went bonkers, decided to turn messiah and is bumping off other officers and ministers in his quest to clean the world. Now they don’t want to just kill Kabir and end the whole mess, they want to find some crucial data that he stores in his laptop. And for this they need Izna to waltz back into his life.

Izna decides to help the Agency and moves next door to Kabir in Sri Lanka, with Ayaan pretending to be her fiancé. At first Kabir refuses to recognize her, but he later gives in with all his Jism. Although he suspects Izna, Kabir begs her to marry him. Partly because her plan of getting the information from him fails and partly because she still loves Kabir, Izna agrees.

The rest of the film is actually just an excuse to watch Izna’s skin show, so don’t really worry about Kabir-Izna-Ayaan.

Jism 2 Review: Script Analysis

Mahesh Bhatt just keeps the basic ingredients to make a potboiler. Not much of the script or story make sense, but they’re just scenes for letting Sunny Leone do what she does best. The holes in his story and script would make a sieve blush.

An “Intelligence Agency” hires a porn star to do their work? Not a hacker, not a sniper, nor a mercenary; a porn star. If they were so bent on killing him, why did they agree to pay Izna Rs. 10 crore to do the job? Kabir has a friend/guard who protects him all the time. But when Ayaan sneaks into his house and hijacks his laptop, his guard is conveniently missing. And obviously, the Sri Lankan government isn’t bothered when Kabir guns down half a dozen people there. And that’s probably just down the initial 20 minutes.

The plot turns downright stupid at some places like when Ayaan’s boss yells at his heartbroken subordinate, “Agar mujhe cancer hotey huey main ye kar sakta hu, to tum kyu nahi?!” That’s 2 seconds after this cancer-patient boss is thrusting a syringe down his arm. What has that got to do with the plot? Nothing. Sunny smooches Randeep a few moments later, so you can forget about it. The dialogues are alright. There’s an oil-massage scene, one near a pool, a semi-strip etc.; these should keep the male audiences happy.

Jism 2 Review: Star Performances

Sunny Leone can barely act. Most of her scenes involve heaving to accentuate her ample bosoms: either pining/worrying for Kabir or in some erotic scene. The tough-officer-in-love does not suit Arunoday Singh and he ends up with unintentionally funny expressions on his face in the emotional scenes. Randeep Hooda is quite good as Kabir, but he mouths too many dialogues through grit-teeth. Arif Zakaria is a joke as Arunoday’s superior.

Jism 2 Review: Direction, Music & Technical Aspects

Pooja Bhatt has done a very good job as the director (even with this hackneyed plot). The movie looks good and doesn’t disappoint those who’ve come to watch Sunny. Vicky Goswami, Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Mithun Sharmav’s music is excellent. Maula and Yeh Jism songs stand out. Editing by Devendra Murdeshwar is alright. Nigam Bomzan’s cinematography is beautiful!

Jism 2 Review: The Last Word

Sunny Leone shows off her sexy body and there’s some real good music while she does that. Don’t even bother trying to make sense of the film.

You really played around well for ‘Jism 2′, isn’t it? From Bipasha to Malliaka and the mystery girl and now Sunny Leone actually in front of media – guess it was all a part of the plan.
Well, I would say that things fell in place. See, you would have noticed that there was so much buzz and speculation around Bipasha in the original ‘Jism’ that there was bound to be curiosity around who would actually replace her in the next instalment of the franchise and do justice to the role. This led to quite a lot of coverage. People started guessing whether it would be the return of Bipasha or the comeback of Mallika Sherawat. Then when there was no news from us around that, there were assumptions being made that it would be a fresh face.

This is when you released the semi-nude picture of the leading lady, albeit with Nathalia Kaul in a veil.
(Smiles) Of course I wanted to add on to the hype. We put together the design which led to further speculations. Of course it worked for us because I realised that the brand by itself had become much bigger now. We didn’t require someone to promote us; we were getting promoted by the sheer strength of the brand.

Well, Sunny did add on to the hype. However, beyond the porn-star profession that she comes with, how has she turned out to be as an actress? If promos are any indication, she seems to be doing reasonably well.
For that we have to give her the entire credit; she has tried to deliver her best. She came to India 50 days before the shooting and went through intensive workshops. We had a dialogue coach who sat with her daily and she memorized her dialogues backwards. Half your battle is won when you do that. Moreover, she definitely looked the part and then it becomes even easier.

You do feel that when an actress finds herself in a natural space, she is bound to do well? This is the reason why for a role of a porn-star you choose her?
Half the mountain was climbed when I cast Sunny for ‘Jism 2‘. For the remaining half, it was on the two us to walk together and make it happen. This comes from my own personal experience. When I look back at my roles in the past, I can see that I did my best when I was put into the space where I was most comfortable in. I was fantastic where I could relate to the setup and plain average when I couldn’t. I think its true for most actors. Take John Abraham as an example. People were not sure if he could pull off ‘Jism’ but I felt that this was his space and he would do well. Today everyone agrees with that.

Jism 2, a sequel of Jism, has found its soul in the music of this album. What you end up hearing is something which is quite soft, melodious and soothing to ears. Now this has always been a strong forte of the Bhatt camp. Be it Jism, Murder, Raaz, Jannat, Aashiqui – one thing that is common between these is its magical music that invites audience to come to the theaters. Music of ‘Jism 2’ is also diverse and blends sensuality with melody and sufi with rock, hence fetching everybody’s attention.

Jism 2 Music Review: Abhi Abhi

A perfect start is desired by all and that has been well accomplished by the first number, Abhi Abhi. The foreplay of words and music by Arko Pravo Mukherjee and Munish Makhija has been well celebrated in K.K.’s amazing voice. The melodious track has stunning play of poetic lines that gives amazing pleasure to the ears and has a calming effect on you. What is also appreciable about the track is its seamless journey from low notes to higher notes. At the end of it all, it is a well delivered number by KK that would surely see appreciation from all. The duet version has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal along with KK which is as pleasant as its first version. Moreover, Shreya’s voice sounds a bit different as she tries to infuse an element of sensuality into the track.

Jism 2 Music Review: Yeh Kasoor

Just like ‘Abhi Abhi’, another number which starts with beautiful sound of instrumental music on low notes is ‘Yeh Kasoor’. This one has been well decorated by the melodious voice of Sonu Kakkar. It’s a song that takes you in the land of peace and desire. Listen to this one on a medium volume in a room with dim lights while sipping and enjoying your drink and slowly close your eyes. This track by Mithoon has the composer’s stamp all over it but yet it is different with each and every word being quite expressive.

Think of melody, think of a Sufi number and both have a strong correlation that strikes well with Maula. Sufi track has a requirement of strong and melodious vocals, something which is quite evident in Ali Azmat’s voice. Remembering the almighty, Arko Pravo Mukherjee has experimented well with the music while adding an element of modern instrumental music to differentiate it from the rest of the league. Arko uses the already proven hit combination of expression of love with the expression of pain to compliment each other and engage its listeners.

Jism 2 Music Review: Yeh Jism

The next track, Yeh Jism is another experiment (never mind its Turkish inspirations) of both Ali Azmat and Arko Pravo Mukherjee that has been delivered on relatively higher notes while infusing rock well. This one is a relatively shorter track of over three and a half minutes as it seems that the element of sensuality in the album wants to perform a ballet and talk with this world.

For quite some time now, one hasn’t heard the sound of an electric guitar in a film. Well, it arrives with the next track – Darta Hoon (Adhoora) – that introduces versatile the band Rushk which is responsible for vocals, lyricis as well as the composition. However this one turns out to be quite average, especially when compared to many other better performances in the album that are bound to steal the attention of its listeners.

Jism 2 Music Review: Hey Walla

With the track Hey Walla, the album is painted with colors of international music by Unoosha and Abdul Baasith Saeed. This one seems to have been associated with the album so that it can be played at discotheques and dance parties. The track shapes up as quite an ordinary one though, just as is the case with the song before. Still, Hey Walla may turn up to be quite a useful piece for DJs, as they may use its theme music as filler for track transition.

Jism 2 Music Review: The Last Word

Overall though, Jism 2 a good album which has the trademark stamp of the Mahesh Bhatt banner which embraces good, melodious vocals complemented well by soothing and soft instrumental music. Four of the seven tracks have potential of doing well and making it to the top of this year’s charts (and also remain there for sometime), while earnings both laurels and currency both.
