What’s Good: Hopefully this is the last film from the Housefull franchise we will have to subject ourselves to.

What’s Bad: Limp jokes that have been picked up from Facebook memes and Whatsapp groups form as the base for Housefull 3 script.

Loo Break: Second half surely needs more!

Watch or Not?: If no-brainer comedies is your thing, you may enjoy this. This tasteless humor may not put a smile to everyone’s faces.

User Rating:

Batuk Patel (Boman Irani) has three beautiful daughters, Ganga (Jacqueline Fernandez), Jamuna (Lisa Haydon) and Saraswati (Nargis Fakhri). Their Hindi is awful and the trio are dating Sandy (Akshay Kumar), Teddy (Riteish Deshmukh) and Bunty (Abhishek Bachchan).

Batuk does not wish to get the three married due to ulterior motives so he fakes a theory ‘He will die if’ to stop them. As a solution to this, the guys pretend to be handicapped, Sandy pretends to be a wheel-chair dependent, Teddy fools them into being blind and Bunty pretends to be mute.

Thus starts their roller coaster ride of lies and stupid acts to cover up them.

Will the girls finally get a happy ending is what lies ahead.

Housefull 3 Review: Script Analysis

This is the third film in the Housefull franchise and well, I still don’t find myself becoming a fan of it.

The slapstick humor fails to rise above its predecessors and in fact this time around it seems even more limp.

With the social media becoming a powerful medium for creative outlets, the rise of comical memes and virality of them is significant in our time. Also, so is their perishable nature. Just as the ‘Dekh Bhai’ memes became viral and soon became obsolete, the Housefull 3 jokes of ‘Aadmi Ko Seedha Hona Chahiye, Ooltah To Tarak Mehta Ka Chasma Bhi Hai’ have already become done to death. Probably, the script was old but they surely didn’t seem to work now.

The inclusion of funny Hindi translations of English pop culture words or humor based on handicapped is so age-old that they hardly give you any chuckles.

If these things are any less, considering the setting is London, of course the makers have to put a racism element where the ‘Gora’ mocks Akshay’s character for being an Indian. I mean who wrote this script? It is a tie between a 5 year-old with a smartphone enabled with whats-app or someone who is a die-hard Sajid Khan fan.

There is no story to look forward to and with Jackie Shroff’s character adding drama, it is a complete yawnfest.

Only a few one liners make you laugh but there are rarely any laugh out loud sort of moments.

Housefull 3 Review: Star Performance

Akshay Kumar is known for his impeccable comic timing. The actor does manage to pull off a good job with his split personality act but after a point goes overboard and there is a thin line between acting and loud acting then!

Riteish Deshmukh surely doesn’t seem to get enough of his repetitive roles when it comes to comedy. He is entertaining but it is more like a Deja Vu.

Abhishek Bachchan’s character is shown to be a rapper and I’m sorry is it just me or is that the biggest joke of Housefull 3? He has no swag and looks quite fatigued trying to act young.

The ladies, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon and Nargis Fakhri have nothing but to add glamour to the film. Look pretty, strut around and pout!

Boman Irani’s Batuk Patel is spot on. He has been a crucial part of all three films from the franchise and once again does a good job.

Jackie Shroff’s character Urja Nagre is played stylishly by him in spite of it being written loosely.

Niketan Dheer and Sameer Kocchar have a special appearance in the film.

Housefull 3 Review: Direction, Music

Sajid-Farhad bagged the third film from this popular franchise and one would have expected it to be much better than the previous two. Unfortunately, it falls in the same line.

The film takes off with London’s aerial view and plenty of London tourism is promoted all through the film.

Clearly since there was no script in place for this film and so was no chemistry between the actors. It is hard to believe how the makers could not find this necessary missing thing. Where was the sensual ‘Papa Jag Jayega’ type dance in this film?

Music is quite good and enjoyable but the background score irritating enough.

One of the best scenes in the film is easily the one where Akshay’s split personality of Sundi take over and he dances on Pinga and a few other songs in a hilarious manner.

Also, in the wax statue museum, when Riteish talks about all others actors being married and says nothing pointing at Salman’s statue.

Housefull 3 Review: The Last Word

Housefull 3 is a no-brainer that can be enjoyed only by fans of Akshay. For people seeking for good jokes, check into one of your WhatsApp groups! A 2/5 for this not-so-housefull of jokes!

ARE U OUT OF MIND OR U ARE BORN MINDLESS IF U DON’T KNOW ABOUT ACTING AND COMEDY THEN U PLEZ QUITE UR JOBB

  12. I don’t understand what you want from a comedy movie. I saw this movie and it is a laugh riot. The dialogues are written very well.

Everyone has there own kind of dialogues whether it is Boman Irani’s or Jackie Shroff’s or even the 3 leading ladies.

It is a situational comedy and if you know how to laugh I am sure you will laugh.
So, you need to be happy and enjoy it.

  13. Baki Critics ki tarah Koimoi wale bhi Akshay Kumar ki film ka kabhi bhi achha review nahi dete.

check all previous movie review of akshay kumar by koimoi.

  14. Every movie has different audience. It’s vacation time and no other good movie around. With no choice, people watch once n forget and movies make crores. As far as comedy, you can watch any comedy TV serial n save money.

  15. Housefull 3 deserves a very generous rating of 0/10.
Would definitely qualify as one of the worst movies ever made in the history of universal cinema.
As always this uselessy useless movie like other movies like this one, will be a huge box office hit in India.
I went to see this awful movie because I was told it was an extremely funny movie but I found it quite funny that this movie was actually made .

  16. The movie review was right but not totally. Although the movie was less humorous and at many stages mocked the disabled. Ratings were good enough considering that. But about akshay acting i think you were biased. If a stage performer like me and one Who knows acting skills have to comment i would say that his acting was to the point. Infact he was never over acting in the movie. Out of other actors abhishek bachhan was also matching his role as a rapper better then his previous movie. So as far as acting is concerned the movie was good. Problem lied in the one liners which were not so funny.
