Rating: 2.5/5 stars (Two and Half Stars)
Star cast: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Christopher Brian Bridges, Luke Evans, Gina Carano, and John Ortiz
What’s Good: Speeding cars zooming through surely pumps up your adrenaline.
What’s Bad: The story after 5 sequels is simply old ingredients packed again in a refurbished box.
Loo break: None
Watch or Not?: Fast and Furious 6 despite all the illogical crass of zooming vehicles and reason-less violence cannot definitely be written off, as it indeed manages to qualify as delicious. Providing two hours plus of impeccably made automobile stunts fitted into a slim plot, along with random bantering and extremely sexist jokes, it is hard to deny that the film makes for an exciting one time watch.
When an American story ventures overseas, it dooms. Cutting across the gang to London, the film begins from where Fast Five ended. Members, all fugitives now are called on by Hobbs to help DSS solve a case. The gang agrees only when they realize a remote chance of Dominic’s girlfriend being alive.
So what unfolds in the story henceforth is restricted to the arena of celluloid!
Fast & Furious 6 Review: Script Analysis
There is hard to decipher anything new in Fast and Furious 6. Working on their same successful formula, the makers have deliberately stayed true to the original recipe. Realizing that the mindlessness of their plots is what the audiences relish, the film is packed and stuffed with stunts. When it comes to those, there is no denying that the significant thrill factor is missing. Seeing the same characteristics over five editions, the cars seemed less ferocious this time. Sticking strictly to my opinion, there is no denying that the film judiciously attempts at succeeding the much enthralling Fast Five. Beyond that don’t try to look for sense or logic in this film. Don’t beat up your gray matter unnecessarily. Go armed with popcorn and coke; simply get lost in the technical magic on screen!
Fast & Furious 6 Review: Star Performances
Before beginning, let me mention, Ludacris is a show stealer!
Vin Diesel is his robust robotic best supported immensely by Paul Walker. In terms of acting, there is too much flatness that it is hard to substantiate it at all. The female characters are clichéd and offensive. Only the series’ new antagonist has enough potential to leave some mark on the audiences. Besides that you must strictly focus on the shiny vehicles and babes in bikinis. That’s all.
Fast & Furious 6 Review: Direction, Music and Editing
To look for screenplay in a story like this is futile. Still for credits, there is pace presented without glitches. It was quite a soaring moment when a tanker emerged out of an army trunk (sorry for the spoilers). Music as usual was catchy, in keeping with the film’s style. The director however loses marks for the lack of vision. Abiding by the rule book of making a blockbuster, there is not an ounce of freshness or creativity. Packing their story in typical watertight compartments, the clear lack of experimentation is a disappointment. However Justin Lin personifies lovable for the loyalists of the series. Fans will love this one because Lin this time will surely make the likes of Einstein and Newton turn in their graves for so outrageously deferring from the humble laws of physics.
Fast & Furious 6 Review: The Last Word
Though mostly sufficing as a wonderful fantasy tale, often the film’s exhilarating moments seem repetitive. Bordering on boredom, on and off, the film descends from the series’ mythology. There is ample motor wilderness and non-tear jerking shallow emoting on screen, yet as former fan of the series, I duly affirm the franchise has lost its momentum. However no one goes for the film expecting genius acting or dazzling storyline. Binge on this piece of cinematic junk, which undeniably feels satiating. I am going with a reasonable 2.5/5 for the film. It is not as pleasurable as the previous ones, but Fast and Furious, I guiltily admit is still just as badass.
