Biography: After establishing UTV software communications back in 1990, Ronnie Screwvala has come a long way. Initially he began on a small scale cable television subscription business in Mumbai way back in 1980. After gathering a sizeable amount of subscribers, he ventured into the television and film production field.
He started producing advertisements and making short films for Doordashan. After being successful in that field, he ventured into producing television serials. Gradually he ventured into the film production industry, while establishing his own UTV motion pictures. Screwvala has also started his own channel base and his channels include UTV movies, UTV Bindass, UTV News and Hungama TV. UTV group now caters to a diverse customer base and has ventured into diverse fields just apart from the production business.
UTV motion pictures have produced more than 70 films, with 52 being in Hindi alone. The production house has also ventured into international film production as well as regional films in India. All this has been possible owing to Ronnie Screwvala’s long-term vision and diligent work ethic. His wife Zarina, also has an executive role in the UTV group.
Screwvala’s ideology has always been to work with people who share the kind of vision that he shares. That is the reason why he believes his banner has integrated the work of so many renowned people.
