Biography: Yash Chopra is considered the pioneer of Indian Films. He has changed the perception of Indian film industry by successfully transforming the way films are made. Not only is he an accomplished director, but he has also achieved worldwide fame owing to his production house.
Yash Chopra was born in Lahore, which is in Pakistan currently and was a part of the British Indian Empire. He later moved to Ludhiana in Punjab. He first assisted Director I.S.Johar, later going on to work as an assistant director under his brother B.R.Chopra. His first film as a director was Dhool Ke Phool, starring Mala Sinha and Rajendra Kumar. Next came Dharmputra, which earned the distinction of being the first film to depict the scenario of partition of India in films. The movie marked the debut of Shashi Kapoor in a fully fledged role. There was no looking back for Yash Chopra from then on, as he gave hits in the form of Aadmi Aur Insaan, Waqt, Ittefaq.
In 1970, Yash Chopra established his own production house. The first venture of Yash Raj Films was Daag: A Poem of Love. Chopra donned the mantle of both Producer and Director for this one. The production house gave some of the biggest hits that Bollywood has ever seen in Silsila, Lamhe, Chandni, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Dil Toh Paagal Hain, Mohabbatein, Veer-Zaara, Dhoom, Ek Tha Tiger and many more! Yash Raj Films has been noted for giving chances and breaks to new talent in every field of the filmmaking process.
After a self imposed hiatus from direction, Yash Chopra is coming back with his untitled film starring Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. This will be his first directorial since Veer-Zaara.
