Biography – Milan Luthria’s debut as a director was with Kachche Dhaage (1999), an action thriller. The film, starring Ajay Devgan and Saif Ali Khan received mild success at the box-office. His next directorial venture was Chori Chori (2003). This film also received little box-office success. He directed Deewar, a war movie, in 2004 starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshaye Khanna and Sanjay Dutt.
He then directed Taxi Number 9211 in (2006), a comedy thriller, starring John Abraham and Nana Patekar. It was produced by Ramesh Sippy and had an upbeat new-age soundtrack by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani. His next film, Hattrick (2007) did not do so well.
His latest venture, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai (2010) is about the Mumbai underworld. It starred Ajay Devgan in the role of Sultan Mirza, a sort of Indian Robinhood. The film has a lot of action and a flamboyant approach. The film also starred Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai. The film was a huge success at the box-office.
The overall success of the film has made Luthria announce the sequel to the film. Although, the entire star cast of the film is not announced, Ajay Devgan will star in the sequel. Akshay Kumar is said to have been roped in for the sequel as well.
