Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest outing Padmaavat has hit the right chord amongst the viewers as it is going super strong at the box office. The film not only is high on appreciation but also is minting huge moolah.
Despite the film being surrounded by countless controversies, it is still inviting moviegoers. Though some states barred filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial, receiving less number of screens, the film has turned out to be a success at the box office.
What has also consolidated Padmaavat‘s domination at the box office is the release of Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor-starrer PadMan getting pushed from January 25. The makers of PadMan had agreed to postpone the release of their film on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s request, given the massive hurdles that Padmaavat had been facing.
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the controversial film, whose title was changed from Padmavati to Padmaavat, also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad, and Anupriya Goenka feature in supporting roles.
The movie earned an amount of 3.50 crores on Friday at the box office so it stands with a total of 239.50 crores and now, it will face competition with Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man. It will be interesting to see how Padmaavat faces competition at the box office.
The film is based on the epic poem Padmavat which was written in 1540 by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi.
Meanwhile, the proposed release of the film in Indore has been deferred, said office-bearers of a film association. The film distributors and theatre owners in the city had two days back, agreed to screen the film on February 9 after the state government assured to provide adequate security cover.
