Aiyyaa Opening Day Box Office Collections

Rani Mukerji in a still from Aiyyaa Movie
Rani Mukerji’s comeback attempt, Aiyyaa released along with 7 other releases yesterday. Not a very wise choice of release date, one can suggest. However, it stood out to be the only film that registered some numbers at the domestic box office.
As per early estimates Aiyyaa had an opening day collection of about 1.50 Crores. The movie had opened to very poor shows in the morning but somewhat picked up slowly towards the end of the day.
Aiyyaa did somewhat good in Maharashtra coz of the Marathi connect in the film but collections remained poor in other parts of the country. The film will have to make some drastic collections in the weekend to save its face value or it might get lost into oblivion like the other releases Bhoot Returns, Makkhi, etc.
Whether Rani can have a “Dhamaka” comeback before her Talaash with Aamir Khan will purely depend on Saturday and Sunday numbers. Almost all lady centric films of the recent past like English Vinglish and Kahaani had disappointing openings but did better in the long run. However both English Vinglish and Kahaani had raving reviews whereas Aiyyaa has a somewhat average one.
