The official nominations of India’s most prestigious film awards are out! 2013 has been a year of newer records and multiple money spinners. With Bollywood’s superstars testing the new recipes of entertaining the audiences, the year has set newer benchmarks in terms of qualitative success as well. Koimoi reveals to you the nominations of the 59th Idea Filmfare Awards.

Battling it out for the best film are the year’s most powerful ventures namely Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Chennai Express, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ramleela, Raanjhanaa and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. While more powerful films like Lootera, Shuddh Desi Romance, Kai Po Che! or mostly The Lunchbox might have lost out due to the underwhelming response of the audiences, the list holistically encapsulates the best films of the year.

The filmmakers who are nominated in the Best Director category are Anand Rai for Raanjhanaa, Abhishek Kapoor for Kai Po Che!, Ayan Mukherji for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rohit Shetty for Chennai Express and lastly Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Ramleela. It was interesting to note that the jury decided to incorporate Kapoor for Kai Po Che!. However, giving Vikramaditya Motwane a miss wasn’t convincing.

The handsome leading men of the industry who made it into the nominations’ list for Best Actor category are Farhan Akhtar for Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dhanush for Raanjhanaa, Ranbir Kapoor for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Hrithik Roshan for Krissh 3, Ranveer Singh for Ramleela and Shah Rukh Khan for Chennai Express. Shockingly, two names remained conspicuously missing from this category. It is a shock how Irrfan Khan was not nominated for his mesmeric performance in The Lunchbox. Going by the reason that The Lunchbox wasn’t exactly a mainstream film, it is a surprise how the jury missed out on including Dhoom 3 which has emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year.

Amongst the Best Actresses of the year, Deepika Padukone managed to bag nominations for both Chennai Express and Ramleela. 2013 has indeed been a Numero Uno year for the actress. Parineeti Chopra was a pleasant surprise on the list as she got nominated for her performance in Shuddh Desi Romance. Newbie Shraddha Kapoor too bagged a nomination for Aashiqui 2, while actress Sonakshi Sinha was appreciated for the artistic rendering in Lootera. Sonam Kapoor too made it in the nominations’ list for Raanjhanaa.

Amongst the supporting actors, Aditya Roy Kapur got nominated for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Anupam Kher for Special 26, Nawazuddin Siddiqui for The Lunchbox, Pankaj Kapur for Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, Rajkumar Yadav for Kai Po Che! and lastly Vivek Oberoi for Krrish 3.

    • Not gonna happen. Its filmfare, its prestigious.

Tell me one instance where SRK won the filmfare where he didnt deserve it.

And not to forget, last 2 yrs it was Ranbir who won it, a well deserved one.

      • but y da z he nominated ths tym…was hs performnce worth being nominated?? and y nt aamir khan while he ws superb in dhoom3…u cn see a youngr artist geting award instead of srk but not any of hs contmpries…nt fair

      • Yes I can
2003 : He won for Devdas. Ajay Devgan deserved to win for Company.

1999: He won for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Ajay Devgan deserved to win for Zakhm or Aamir Khan for Ghulam

1998: He won for Dil Toh Paagal Hai. Anil Kapoor deserved to win for Viraasat

Before you come to any conclusions. I genuinely like SRK and am happy when he won for Swades, Chak De India and My Name is Khan. But THERE IS a lot of bias towards him at Filmfare.

      • Ok I’ll give you one 1999 he won it for dil to pagal hai when Ajay devgan deserved it for zakham. or 1998 when anil deserved it for virasat. You may remember that ajay actually won the national award for zakham. This started as an award that rewarded acting but has become a commercial venture. Irfan khan has more talent than all the other khans in his little toe. He deserved it last year for paan singh toomer yet they gave it to ranbir.

        • I agree, if Bhaag milkha Bhaag is going to win award for this year, then definitely Paan singh tomar had to be for the last year, shameless FILMFARE.

  1. Indian film awards are all about film promotions & TRPs. They do not have any credibility. SHAMELESS…! Film Awards….HA…HA…HA…

  2. This is how filmfare has ignored aamir khan always. I request every dhoom 3,aamir and katrina fan to watch dhoom 3 again and make it reach at such a zenith of success that even these shameless people are not able to ignore it.

  3. its so sad how come chennai express be nominated in the best film category n they did not add krrish 3 n dhoom 3 i cant believe it

  4. Chennai Express should not be there in any category. Film got success because of SRK, Deepika and Rohit Shetty but it does not deserve any award. People must see films like Lunchbox and Lootera. Where is Aamir and Hrithik in the list. Ranbir singh must be there for Lootera but not for Raamleela. Only Deepika acting was good in Chennai. Shahrukh is a good actor but not the best. As an indian odiance, we want good movies which succeed commercially as well.

  5. I can’t believe this!!!…really filmfare??2013 gave us so many good quality films…and u nominate these???????chennai express?really????PATHETIC NOMINATIONS!!!…
