Priyanka Chopra Goes Retro As ‘Babli Badmaash’
For her first ever item number for Shootout At Wadala, Priyanka Chopra has managed to make her presence count and win hearts. In a quick shoot that was recently concluded at a specially erected set for the song (titled Babli Badmaash), the actress has left everyone mighty impressed.
“Priyanka too was conscious of the fact that she had to make the song look extraordinary on screen. She has quite a few musical hits to her name but ‘Desi Girl’ from Dostana is at the top. It was about time that she moved on to something different and bigger and better. This is where ‘Babli Badmaash’ fit the bill,” informs a source.
Though Darling [7 Khoon Maaf], I Feel Good [Anjaana Anjaani] and Pehli Baar Mohabbat [Kaminey] have been some of her big songs in recent years, it is the retro feel of ‘Babli Badmaash’ which did the trick for her.
“If you pick chartbuster numbers like Pyaar Lo Pyaar Do, Laila Main Laila, Doston Se Pyar Kiya, Jawaan E Jaaneman or Aap Jaisa Koi from the era gone by, Babli Badmaash Hai fits in brilliantly into the same mould. Interestingly, most of these songs were picturised on Parveen Babi or Zeenat Aman, two actresses with whom Priyanka has quite a lot in common with, from an overall personality perspective,” the source adds.
This is something that Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor kept in mind, as a result of which Babli Badmaash has turned into one item number which could well turn out to be Priyanka’s proud debut into the arena of item numbers.
No wonder Sanjay was mighty impressed and took to the social media platform to express his heartfelt feelings about Priyanka. He stated, “Finished Babli Badmaash and simply loved the way Priyanka rocked this song. She loves her work and it shows. Her enthusiasm for work is unlike any other actress I’ve ever worked with.”
Guess this is indeed a massive turnaround for the actress who was going through a rocky phase a year ago.
