KJo’s next is ‘Unglee’, Emraan Hashmi and Sanjay Dutt are final
For over a month there had been rumours around Sanjay Dutt being a part of Karan Johar’s next production. Though Emraan Hashmi was the first to be confirmed for this film that would be directed by Rensil D’Silva, there was no official word from Karan. However putting all rumours to rest, Karan has now confirmed that Sanjay Dutt is indeed on board.
“Yes, Sanjay is definitely doing the film. The principle cast is Emraan Hashmi, Sanjay Dutt, Randeep Hooda, Kangana Ranaut and Neha Dhupia. There isn’t any lead pair per se. It’s an ensemble affair”, says Karan Johar.
While Unglee was being speculated as a tentative title, Karan also confirms that it would remain that way.
“The word Unglee has certain significance in the film. It would be too early to talk about it in detail though”, continues Karan.
With his debut flick Kurbaan, Rensil had explored the subject of terrorism. Unglee wouldn’t be getting into a similar dark zone though.
“All I can say is that Unglee is a youth awakening film for sure. It is an entertainer with a social message”, Karan throws light on the film’s genre and setting.
Unglee would go on floors later this year. It would be interesting to see how the cast operates on the sets though. While this would be Emraan’s first film with Karan Johar and also marks his entry into a premium production house of Bollywood, it would also be special for the reason that post their bitter parting, Sanjay Dutt and Kangana Ranaut would be coming together on screen.
