Happy Birthday Varun Dhawan: He has yet again managed to win hearts with his performance in Shoojit Sircar’s October, and now the actor is gearing up for his upcoming period drama, Kalank. Despite not earning as much as his other films, it has become a box office success due to its low budget.
With his latest release, the actor has now managed to deliver 10 back-to-back successes, with zero failures so far. This is a perfect record that no other actor has been able to achieve in their career till date.
The young actor made his debut 2012, with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year, opposite newcomers Alia Bhatt and Siddharth Malhotra. The film was a super-hit, collecting 70 crores during its lifetime in India. He then starred in Main Tera Hero, an action rom- com directed by his father David Dhawan. The film fared well, as it collected 55 crores during its run. The actor followed it up with another romance comedy, in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania which did great at the box-office, earning 78 crores.
After a series of Bollywood films, the actor switched things up in 2015’s Badlapur, a crime thriller. The actor not only proved his versatility, but also made the film a commercial success, collecting over 53 crores. His next release ABCD 2 was his first film to make it to the 100 crore club. He followed it up with Dilwale, which also featured Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Kriti Sanon. Despite receiving mixed reviews, it earned over 148 crores making it Varun’s highest grosser till date. After this, he joined John Abraham in Dishoom, which fared well at the box office, earning 70 crores. The actor then delivered 2 more 100 crore club films, Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Judwaa 2, that earned 116.60 crores and 138 crores respectively. In his latest release October, the actor is once again seen pushing the envelope, as he plays the role of Dan with the utmost conviction. In the 6 years since he’s started working as an actor, Varun Dhawan’s films have earned a whopping 874.93 crores in total.
On the work front, Varun will next be seen in Sharat Katariya’s Sui Dhaaga, opposite Anushka Sharma. He has also started shooting for Abhishek Varman’s Kalank, which features an ensemble including Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor. He will also join Katrina Kaif in what is touted as India’s biggest dance movie yet.
