Aamir Khan: I Was Too Old To Play Munna
When Kiran Rao started with the casting of Dhobi Ghat, Aamir Khan was disappointed when she downright refused to cast him in her debut movie as she did not want a known face. Aamir concedes that he understood that there was no way he could play Munna as he was too old for the role. But even after Prateik Babbar (Munna), Monica Dogra (Shai) and Kriti Malhotra (Yasmin) had been cast, Kiran was still looking for her brooding artist, Arun.
That’s when Aamir Khan tried out for the role of Arun. Kiran says, “Arun needed to be a character who communicated a lot without saying anything. He had to say a lot with his eyes. It was a role with so much depth.”
